Any suggestions on time and place.. I think Viajero Joven and davrodrg are the location specialists

I think Tazi wanted to do the airfield thing but then she said something that this event may happen in May instead.

lmlinder Mar 20, 2003 10:31 am

If it's a Saturday, whlinder & I should be able to make it...it's now 4/19 instead of 4/12?
Where will it be?

L

dlnewbie Mar 20, 2003 3:05 pm

I think Tazi had planned on replanning the College Park airfield thing because not too many people were going to be able to make it that day.

The idea of a saturday seems good to me .. I'll be flying back from MSY on the 12th .. but if that day is good for everyone else then the 12th it should be.

I think the Viajero Joven usually looks for something more in the downtown area... but downtown DC is not my area of expertise

tazi Mar 20, 2003 8:56 pm

I'll be in town on the 19th. The airfield restaurant would work great. I had been thinking of doing something in May because of interest from other members outside the area but I just don't have the time or energy to commit to it right now. It didn't seem like there was much interest in what I had previously suggested for the 19th so I didn't pursue it. What do you all think?

BoaBoy, didn't you tell me you couldn't make it on the 12th which is why I suggested the 19th to begin with???

Yes, but I don't want the schedule to necessarily revolve around my schedule. There are other people too, so if I'm the only one who the 12th is not good for then it's not fair to reschedule just for me http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

You're not the only one. I also have plans on the 12th...probably going back to MSY! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Alysia Mar 21, 2003 7:49 am

Count me in if it's the 19th at the airfield.

El Boocho Mar 21, 2003 8:10 am

Seems like everyone is going to MSY on the 12. Maybe I should reschedule to a week earlier. Apparently N.O. on April 12th is the place to be. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

dlnewbie Mar 21, 2003 11:54 am

Actually I'm flying back on the morning of the 12th .. But if anyone is in town that Friday night, I'm game for a drink or two or three.

I might even break out the boa again

cblaisd Mar 21, 2003 5:55 pm

Excuse the OT interruption, but if any of you DC folks could comment on my request at
http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...ML/009768.html I'd be most grateful.

tazi Mar 21, 2003 8:42 pm

Let's just do this on the 19th. Who can make it????

I can.

IAH_FLYER Mar 22, 2003 5:43 pm

We can.

If this looks like it's a go, maybe a separate thread is in order. I'm sure there are many who don't read this huge thread often. Plus, it's not really a happy hour.

bdschobel Mar 23, 2003 9:28 am

I can.

I should have known to have counted on SeeYa to chime in with the comment. If it's not Tazi it's SeeYa.

tazi Mar 24, 2003 4:13 pm

I started a new thread for this dinner so as not to disrupt regularly scheduled Happy Hour activity. Here's the link:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/003196.html

I'll wait to see how many will be attending before deciding on a definite time but it will likely be around 6pm. That way anyone who would like to tour the airport museum can do so before dinner. I believe they close at 5pm.

Viajero Joven Mar 25, 2003 9:36 am

Hey guys,

Sorry to have dropped out of sight for a bit. So, since when have I become well versed on DC hangouts?? I'm a transplant after all. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Sounds like Tazi has things taken care of for April. I may or may not be around-- still trying to see if Easter travel plans may take shape, being the weekend travel warrier I am, but I will post as things become definite.

Tazi, thanks for taking the lead on the airport dinner. Sounds like it will be a lot of fun!!

Viajero Joven Apr 23, 2003 1:40 pm

I'm bringing this thread back to life..... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I missed the Airport dinner, but was there any talk of the next get together??

If I had my druthers, I'd say Tues May 20 or Wed. May 21.... but that's just me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

There was no talk of the next happy hour at the dinner.
You missed a nice dinner.

But I got to eat overpriced, so-so Mexican food with my sister for Easter. There's value in that.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Old Gold Apr 27, 2003 6:49 pm

Old and Mrs. Gold will be in D.C. May 8-10, before departing Union Station on the Capitol Limited. Hey, we're burning Continental Frequent flyer miles! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

We're always up for a get-together.

gleff May 1, 2003 6:35 pm

Anyone up for something May 8 or 9 (as mentioned by Old Gold above) or later in the month?

If I'm in town, I'd be happy to bring Freddie, Jr. (once I pick it up from dhammer53).

dlnewbie May 1, 2003 7:07 pm

How about Fri May 9 ... I'm not good at picking a place .. but that Friday seems like a good night

GoingAway May 1, 2003 7:43 pm

That works for me .... how about Bethesda, somewhere on the metro line for those that use it. I think its MD's turn.

gleff May 1, 2003 8:00 pm

Unfortunately I won't be able to do May 9 (ok, I know I just suggested it!) but I could bring Freddie on May 8.

Next time I need to consult my itineraries first!

(Humbly apologizing)

dlnewbie May 1, 2003 9:35 pm

I'm agreeable to the 8th as well... Bethesda somewhere on the 8th. I have a lots of suggestion for Bethesda happy hour joints

Alysia May 1, 2003 10:24 pm

I emailed Old Gold. He and his wife are staying near Capitol Hill when they get into town. They are coming by train from out west so they won't be reading this but I have their cell phone number. They wanted to meet on Friday as they weren't sure what time they would be arriving in DC.

We met in Maryland last month. May I suggest doing someplace around Capitol Hill? Or if you really want to, we could go back to the Green Turtle and have dlnewbie pick us all up at the metro station in his pimp mobile.

I do wish I could meet on Friday -- since Freddie, Jr. currently carries one of Old Gold's very special sootkase tags...

bdschobel May 2, 2003 7:14 am

I plan to be in DC May 8, if jury duty doesn't prevent me from making the trip.

GoingAway May 2, 2003 9:02 am

The 8th works ... How about at Union Station if you're shooting for DC and someone is coming in by train? I've walked through it a lot but have not been to any of the restaurants inside. Just a thought

I'll try and call them over the weekend to try to find out approx. what time they are coming in on Thursday. The other day, Olod Gold said he wasn't sure. Union Station would work or there are several places within walking distance.
