Am I getting older or what?
I really used to enjoy travelling and planning a journey but over recent months I have the increasing perception that it is becoming a real pain in the behind. Whenever you call an airline there is some difficulty, a problem, they cancel and they reschedule constantly. A set of tickets I am holding had to be reissued twice because of NZ schedule changes. After all that I asked for a change and get whacked with a charge...kind of ironic. I have been rebooked on planes that fly via the pampas because the direct schedule doesn't connect to my international flight anymore. Are the airlines really becoming more difficult to deal with, or is it me? Have I reached the soapy slope of decrepitude and am gradually becoming (or have I already become) an old fart?

I do most sincerely hope, Snoopy, that you are getting older (looking younger, of course) but getting older is truly the best thing that can happen to any of us. It's true, it's true.
Having said that, yes you are right--the airlines really are becoming more difficult to deal with. Signs of the times.

Hey Punki, of course you're right we are all getting older and wiser (?). But (and I think you knew this) that I meant getting older as in attitude. I always thought I was a guy with a "young" attitude, but I'm beginning to doubt it. Do airlines shorten everyone's fuse or just mine?!

a "young" attitude
I have no idea why a 'young attitude' should be better than an 'old(er) attitude'.
I still belive that the/my (only) right attitude is the one I have with my 'current age' (I don't want to be one day younger nor older, really).

Makes sense to me!

I am and feel "middle aged!"

There's nothing new about the fear of getting old.
I belong to the generation whose mantra was "Don't trust anyone over thirty!"
But most of us quickly BECAME part of that very group!
Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose. (With apologies for the lack of diacritical marks; too much bother to figure out the control sequences.)
