cc: your friend is welcome to join us

since most of us will be in town by midnight on friday, & the majority is staying downtown, let's meet up at midnight at main street station's triple 7 micro-brewery (200 n. main street, across from the california casino). we can plan saturday's activities while we're filling up on some adult beverages (if they don't serve tequila-based bevs, we'll find someplace else open at that hour that does... it will be cinco de mayo, after all).

you all have my cell number if anybody gets lost. and the only one who has requested "limo" service from the airport has been TW1 on saturday; anyone else? see you this weekend.

Just in case you've been too busy to check, here's what the weather will be for the weekend. Bring your sunglasses.

Wow it's warmer right now in San Francisco than it is in LAS. That is a bit of a relief. My Vegas friend told me it has been in the 90s lately. The 70s and 80s is much better.

Actully 70's-80's is a little too cool. 90-100 is the sweet spot here. It's been windy and does cool off at night so a light windbreaker or long sleeves would be appropiate.

Good Luck,

freefaller12k does this mean you are comming. I see that you have been on the maybe list for a while.

I would love to talk to you about diving. And why not freefaller14k rather than 12k?

A 14k freefall = splat I use a chute for the last 2000 ft or so.

It looks like I'll be at the Bellagio on Siete de Mayo, checking out on Ocho de Mayo. If anyone is around for dinner Monday, let me know.

Anyone on a mileage run to Vegas without overnight stay?

May 5 arriving on CO flight from IAH at 9:30pm and leaving back to EWR at 00:30am the following morning :-)

Question on upgrades. I'm platinum, but could not get upgraded on the return to EWR.
Is there a chance to get CO to book me on a morning flight, instead, without paying any change fees?

Thanks.

Happy Cinco de Mayo to one and all. Wish I could be there for a few Margaritas along with some FlyerTalk.

solarprobe, your round trip is actually booked as an overnight Saturday stay (different dates for the outbound and return) which is why the Elite Upgrade Automation or EUA system did not attempt to upgrade your return flight at the same time as your outbound flight. Have you checked back today to see if your return flight made the cut up front during last night's sweep? As a Platinum or Gold, if it were a full fare Y ticket ($$$), you would be eligible for an immediate upgrade, if available.

Continental will not book/confirm you in advance on a later flight the same day without change fees. You have the option of flying standby for a (at least two hours) later flight the same day with no additional fees. However, you must make the flight that same day or you will be charged change fees. It's a gamble! Since you are in Las Vegas, you should feel comfortable at it.

Don't take my word as the final authority, please. Call the Platinum Elite line for clarification and perhaps to determine how those later flights are looking from a capacity and upgrade point of view. Check your odds, cover your bets!

Happy Travels!

I just returned home from Vegas. It was a fabulous week-end and Saturday evening was really nice. It was wonderful to have a small, intimate get together where we all got to know each other. We didnt even need name tags since it was so small. I did forget certain peoples real name from time to time and called them by their handle, especially TransWorldOne.

I enjoyed meeting everyone of you, MileCrazy, shadow, TransWorldOne, RichLond, and Catman. MileCrazy thanks for getting the ball rolling on this one. Vegas was an excellent location for a FT gathering. Thanks as well for the Las Vegas trinkets you purchased for us. Everytime I clip my nails I'll think of you.

MileCrazy did really well at the tables, while some of us didnt do so well (speaking for myself).

Great week-end and I look forward to running into all of you again either in the air or on the ground.

MRLIMO,

Thanks for the advice. The problem with the no-upgrade was due to the fact that I'm Plat on NW, and no elite (yet) on CO, and was using OnePass account for the bonuses. Sometimes, certain CO agents are getting on my nerves, as they refuse to honor my NW Platinum status, when accruing mileage on CO OnePass. A call to the NW WP Dedicated line usually fixes the problem, but the other night in Vegas, somehow (maybe with the CO supervisor's help, or maybe just a mistake on the NW agent side) my LAS-EWR segment got cancelled mysteriously. The CO agents would not do anything to put me back, even though I already had a boarding pass for the flight. At boarding time, it turned out there were two seats available, so I ended up making the flight, but, boy, what shameless behavior on CO side... Not to mention, that the CO supervisor was claiming there were no FC seats on the following segment, yet, NW WP agent got me one, and it turned out there were only 3 people flying in FC on that flight... It's been a while since I've seen an empty FC seat on a CO and NW flights...

Anyway, I should have planned the itenarary better, as I could not attent the FT get-together in Vegas, that same night. Oh, well, next time, maybe.

Anyone flying EWR-BRU (Wed) or BRU-EWR (Sun)? There are still promo-fare seats ($350 r/t incl. taxes) available on http://www.continental.com .
It's Q class, i.e. non-upgradeable, but can't complain about the price. And it'll bring a hefty 70+K in bonuses.

Cheers,
sp
