Strange "let's take stuff from First"

Recently on a UA flight LAS-ORD I observed something I found a little strange. When moving towards coach through First a man just grabbed pillows and blankets from some of the First seats (there were pillows in coach also but those in First are nicer of course). I thought that was a little strange - is that something you usually do? He brough it all to his seat in coach and went to sleep.

Usually I might ask a FA in First if they have place to put my jacket in the closet (if it's a jacket to one of my better suits) but apart from that I have never taken stuff from First.

they are the same on most smaller planes that i have been on

but..

i have seen this happen a lot! when all the first seats are nicely put out with pillows and blankets on each i have seen back-riders snatch them up as they walk by. this cant happen when the boarding door is behind first as in most cases with the 757.

what i cant understand is why the 767 doesnt have a middle door for boarding. that is an terrible plane to board even with 2 isles. if you are in an isle seat in first you stand a good chance of getting smacked with luggage as people walk by.

what gets to me is the red-eye flights seem to have the least amount of pillows and blankets! in these cases, every seat should have a set. it only makes sense.

On the new 767-400 (at least on DL) you DO board at door #2. Once onboard, turn left through about 8 rows of Y into F cabin. Very narrow aisles...

Oh yeah, I see this all the time. That's one of the reasons why I try to make sure I board early... to make sure my seat isn't raped and pillaged before I get there. I mean, aside from pillows and blankets, I've seen people take amenity kits, put their carry ons in the overheads, put their coats in the closet, headphones, anything that isn't bolted down...

It's probably why UA doesn't put out the amenity kits before boarding anymore, instead opting to hand them to you after you're seated.

Some 767-300ERs do have 2L boarding door, but they are rare. I know that Delta has a couple inherited from some Latin American airlines. No other US airline uses this config, but BA and a few others do. JAL too I think. 767-400s do have 2L door.

Back to the original topic, I agree that they can swipe things which can be annoying. The only guilt I can plea to is grabbing the premium cabins menus after the flight, walking out. I don't see anything wrong with this, since the flight is over and they'll probably be thrown away anyway.

SAS even gives out the pillows and blankets after boarding in their EuroClass.

What?!! That's a capital offence

Last time I went to ORD someone from coach came up and put a large trolley in the overhead-bin above me. I looked at him with the "what-are-you-doing???"-eyes and he mubled something like "douh uh neet dat?" and I shook my head and looked away. I didn't really have much carry-on baggage and the C seat beside me was empty - so it wasn't a problem for me but his actions were wrong out of principle...

On my AMS-DTW flight on my return from the Altbier in DUS I was on a DC-10 in the bulkhead center row. Of course, the NWA crew had their bags in the first couple of overheads and by the time I boarded there was no room to be found. There was this real .....y FA who just stood there looking at people and told me that there were bins at the back. I was miffed by her attitude and was not game to fight 25 rows of pax, so I politely stowed my ONE carry-on in Biz. Then, later in the flight she was ignoring people who wanted something to drink in the forward galley. I grabbed a can of Pepsi, at which point she snatched it out of my hand and loudly said, "Can I help you?" I spoke to the purser who gave me some miles and told me what a great FA this person was. What a crock of S**T.
