Clearing the Fields
As you can tell, the community (or most of it) is currently undergoing a periodic flame war. These come and go, but occur every so often. This is the first when in which I have been (slightly) involved, and I've learned a good trick that has been mentioned here before, but I wanted to say it again.
Whenever I had something to say but knew at some level that I didn't want to say it, I would compose my post, but I never pressed Submit. Instead, I pressed Clear Fields, and, poof, my message was gone with the wind. At the time I was annoyed because I thought I should've posted it, but in retrospect a day later, I'm glad I didn't post it. It let me blow off some steam without angering others, making myself look bad, or result in angering me more in the future.
Many here have said ignore flames. I try, but I want to respond. So I respond, but I never say anything. I clear the fields.
On the other hand, I've also hurt myself with this feature. After typing a long post, sometimes I accidentally tap the ESC button, and poof goes my post. To combat this problem I type trip reports in Word, but normal posts I type directly in, and sometimes mistakes occur.

Amen. I was upset by a post this evening, and was about to break my silence and comment on the issue. Luckily, the board decided to go down for a few moments, and by the time I was able to post, I had lost the urge.
I implore everyone, before you click submit, please, get up and take a breath, and think about how it will affect others. Thanks
