Catman, I'm definitely in! Please put me on your definite list and the email list for the DO!
As for dates, my choice is any weekend EXCEPT March 2-4th. I will be running in the LA Marathon on March 4th.

Im OK with any date, as I will have to confirm on short notice anyway... Unfortunately, my job responsibilities dont allow me to play so far ahead...
Shareholder, it looks like we share some common interests (both Argentine & Cuban Havanas). As much as I love both, Im not sure I could mix a Monty No. 2 or a Sancho Panza Belicoso & a Chocolate Alfajor, though
. However, a pound (or two) of beef, a nice full-bodied red and a good smoke (preferably a cuban torpedo) is right up my alley.
Let me see how the logistics work, but I will do my best to make the gathering & to bring along a few boxes of Alfajores for all present to sample. (you can take home whatever -if anything- is left over
)
PS: I also have to figure out a way to get my cubans past US customs. Perhaps this is a job for Gaucho007...

Gaucho100K, as far as I am led to believe, any FlyerTalker in good standing who asks politely will likely get an invite from Catman. And particularly someone who can appreciate the finer aspects of a perfectly cooked, fork tender pound of beef. I would certainly think Catman would want to compare notes with you, based on our own "conversation" a few weeks ago about the finer things Buenos Aires has to offer in this regard. But if you do come, you must bring me a box of Havannas: no Catman, not the ones you and Cigarman savor, but Alfajores! If you've ever had one, you wouldn't have to ask about the difference. (But let's just say they are Argentina's answer to Krispy Kremes.)

Sounds like a blast. The only weekends I cannot do are the first two of the baseball season (live drafts in my other major hobby, fantasy baseball!), and Greek Orthodox Easter weekend which this year is the weekend after Western Easter.

US costums told me several times (I always bring a case of 49 original Cuban cigars with me), last time on sep-6-2000 in SFO, that they TOLERATE my import of a max of 50 CUBAN cigars as long as they are for my personal consumption (of a non-US-citizen) and trust in me reexporting the non-consumed ones afterwards.

I'm in - just let me know which weekend it's going to be in advance for me to book a VS reward ticket. Steak, Red Wine ... yum takes me back to BA right now. Maybe I should just go get a lite snack for lunch today...

Will do my best to make this since I've made the other NYC gatherings.
So far, probably any of the April weekends since until 3/17 I will be out of the country and I'll need some time to recuperate!

Rudi-- a few questions about your cubans, since your strategy seems to work: Do you always declare them upon entry to the US or do you wait to get questioned...? Also, when declaring, do you state their origin or do you just specify "cigars"...?
Cheers,

Randy should be setting the date for the Freddie Ceremony in NYC soon. It is usually on a Monday. It would be great to schedule this function for the same weekend.
