Another wonderful evening seeing an old Flyertalker Friend and meeting new ones!
Plane gets in about 10 minutes late so I rush off the plane and there's JimB waiting there!!! I was shocked, so nice of you brother to come to the airport to get me.
SO we cab it to the Hereford Grill just five minutes from MIA INT'L where at the bar Tolarian Wind, Hammertoad and his gorgious wife Jodie (Mrs. Toad) are waiting. We exchange greeting and head for the table and the steak.
Spartacus joins us a few minutes later and we spend the evening talking about everything from posts to favorite travel stories to get togethers (I believe for Tolarian Wind and for Spartacus it was the first of what I hope is many dos) and computers and cats and stuff. I told everyone to come to Flyme2's FAQ 2000 because we are family and they would have a good time.
The steaks and the service were terrific. I had two Coronas (to get ready for the stuff in Cancun, no Sam Adams there!
) and I would recommend and say add the Hereford Grill to the list of Flyertalker Recommended dining places.
JimB had an 11:30pm flight back to his home in Santiago so TOlarian WInd took him back to MIA. Spartacus had an early drive so he has to call it a night. Toad and the misses took a cab with me to the Marriott where I checked in, dumped the bags, then waited like an eternity for another cab to teh HIlton where they were staying.
TOlarian WInd was waiting so we launched into Party #2 at the bar. I had a Devars (durs) which didn't go down well and I wanted to like it. It is the Hammertoad drink == like some Flyertalkers have drinks just for them. But they did find a Sam Adams for me.
We talked so much next thing we knew it was 1:35 in the morning so after hugs and so longs we all headed to bed. Tolarian Wind was cool enough to take me back the Marriott.
Thanks Toad, Jodie, JimB, Tolarian Wind and Spartacus for coming out and being part of the FLyertalk family. (with PEPSI in hand) here's to more F-T dos and you all coming up to NYC SOON!

True Story: Got a "frantic" call on my cellular from Hammertoad around 7:30 last night..."Do you have Catman's cellular number???? I'm at the Hilton waiting for him, BUT HE AIN'T STAYING HERE!"
Well, I used to have his #, but I dropped my cell phone and it died about 2 weeks ago, so I lost his # when I bought a new one.
I'm glad you guys all hooked up in the end

This was the first of what I hope to be many more FT get-together's. It's funny how things work out. Being in FLL for the week to enjoy scuba diving AND getting a great dinner at Hereford Grill...I love this country! Hats of to Catman for putting this all together.
Since I was driving back to my resort in FLL didn't couldn't adjourn for the late night gig...another drink and it would have been taxi city for me! I was bummed that I was not continuing on to Cancun THIS TIME!
As an epicurean and former food and beverage professional, I have to give Hereford two snaps, a kiss and a twist! The mixed grill was awesome, although I passed on the blood sausage. The lobster bisque was out of this world and the atmosphere was also very good. The guy playing the piano and singing was very good, but not too loud.
Catman made the sin of assumption in his posts that I was with spouse, but she is actually the ex and lives in Iowa, where I get to visit my two wonderful boys every chance I get. You are forgiven, Commander!
It was great to share this evening with you all. Hammertoad and Mrs. Toad, Tolarian Wind, Jim_B and Catman, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Jim, hope your flight to Chile was smooth. Hope to see many of you at FAQ in YUL!
