My September has cleared up, and it's been too long since I've been to YVR (last visit was the 2011 SCF) so I'm in! Booked 9/13-16, staying at the Westin Grand on Robson.

I created a wiki with attendance based on what I could determine from posts above. Feel free to edit as appropriate!

I should have further news in regard to the float plane tours later this week.

As to the previously asked questions of where to book your hotel, Downtown Vancouver is the most centrally located area, but I realize hotels are stupidly priced that time of year. There are a couple people who have mentioned staying closer to the Broadway SkyTrain Station, which is maybe a 7-10 minute walk and then the same for the ride to downtown. Airbnb might be another solid option, heaven knows there's enough contention about housing going to that sort of "transient" population! If going that route, Gastown, Yaletown, and Coal Harbour are most central, but False Creek is also reasonable for a walker.

Fair warning, busses and SkyTrain are great for getting around the downtown core (Google maps is more than sufficient for coordinating routes, stops, times), but we do NOT have Uber. There seem to be lots of taxis, but as someone who lives in the 'burbs, I do not have a good relationship with them (many a denied ride late at night), short profitable rides should be smoother.

So I have sourced out the flights, but there are two options for Saturday Sept 16th: $114 (so ~$87US) for 30 min flight (20min in air) or @175 (so ~$133US) for 45min flight (35 min in air). I might be able to get two separate flights, a short and a long, but the preference is for both to be the same. It would be for an Otter, 10 passengers each. Can I please get expressions of interest in the wiki to get an idea of how many would likely partake in this activity? Thx! (At this point just to get a clearer idea of numbers/flight length.)

The land based Otter has been part of my life fore decades. It will be fun to experience a water takeoff.

Agreed, especially if you fly into YWH!

But even just tooling around the greater YVR area, this is a fun way to fly and I encourage all out-of-towners for the Do to give this a go. The views are amazing.

this is about 15 seconds from landing to the south at YWH — yes, the bank angle is about 20 degrees at an altitude of maybe 150 feet
