That's why I decided to get a rental van. We have to have the opportunity for a repeat performance!

BTW, no refunds for any, er, service disruptions or delays due to [tire] MX...

It would not be a true AK DO without the obligatory "Jackal Time"

@:-) Check the spare. Don't just make sure it's there, get your FT DYKWIA on and insist the rental company install it before you leave the rental facility. (Good luck with that!)

Experience talks, everyone else walks. That said, you Alaskans are magnificent tire-changers. Experience talks.

BBQ Spots in JNU

I lived in Juneau for many years. I would recommend Auke Rec, Lena Beach or Douglas Beach. All have barbecue stands. All also have covered picnic areas.

Pending the approval of Mrs. PV_, I am tentatively planning to fly SMF-SIT on 7/24, arriving around 1:15pm and stick with the DO agenda until evening of 7/27 at which time I will fly JNU-SMF with an overnight in SEA.

Let's see how charitable Mrs. PV_ is feeling when she gets back from Florida later this week. We have a pretty busy summer already and she may not fancy me running off to Alaska for a weekend without her.

If possible I would like to tentatively claim a spot in jackal's minivan to Mendenhall for 7/27 and also a ride for whatever is going on by the time I would arrive in SIT on 7/24.

Will try to firm this up by mid week and post the rest of my itinerary.

What a deal!

Don't know yet about grades, my last final is tomorrow and they're not due until June 9th. I'll let FT know though.

btw we are having a very "warm" spring... I think it got up to almost 70 today, and no signs of our typical rain.... maybe we WILL have another awesome summer.

I don't mind hosting the BBQ - but just need to know what people's plans / budgets are... we can have it catered, go do the Costco/Jerrys Meats run and throw some cows/pigs/fish on the grill, typically I keep plenty of liquor at the house.. can get some pony kegs of whatever Alaskan Brewery has on tap too (those are like $55/each).
