I got the same call. And accepted without extra points.

Attendees, please subscribe to this thread. Otherwise it will be difficult to keep everyone apprised of all the plans, which are always fluid for this thing.

If any of you want to add a night or are driving north, Billy Joel is playing in Louisville on Sunday night.

no worries, not yet.

At some point, we'll figure out how many folks are coming & can make the races. Then once a head count is established, we'll purchase tickets as a group (Keeneland allows ticket purchasers to choose seats, so if one person does the ordering for the group, it assures the group will all sit together).

It is important to note, that prior to ordering tickets, payment for the ticket will be expected BEFORE the tickets are purchased. While it is sad that we have to set things up this way, as you can imagine there are those who will say for sure they are coming, then back out thus leaving an organizer in the hole.

I wish we had more time, an attendee on TOBB brought up this:

FYI: Woodford Reserve Bourbon Academy
http://www.gotolouisville.com/play/e...SourceId=13405
but it conflicts with the itinerary and is $225, also on 3/22

I had a scare because there was almost a chance that I had to fly to LA on that Sunday night, which would have meant missing most of the Keaneland session. That has been avoided, thank goodness.

Does anyone have thoughts on Sat. afternoon and evening for dinner?

Happy to have a cocktail/snacks reception at my parents' house around 4-5 pm, but we are getting over 35 people (counting my family and a few folks who are not Flyertalkers) and preparing food for a possible dinner would be a major challenge unless we cater. Sweet Willie offered to grill his famous marinated chicken for everyone, but it may all be too much, especially as I'd have to bring in at least 1 more grill.

Last time in LEX we went to Billy's BBQ down the road after the reception at my parents' and everyone seemed to have a very good time (some had a really good time as I recall). We ate quite well with beers and everything for about $16 per person all-in (I think). Sort of family-style. Of course, that is optional.

I will be in LEX next weekend and could go have a chat with the manager at Billy's to make sure they have space.

We all appreciate the hospitality, but burdening your folks with 35 people, let alone flyertalkers after a bourbon trail tour, for dinner, even if it's catered, seems over the top. I just looked at the menu for Billy's, I'm in for some mutton bbq.

Thanks. Here is the website for Billy's: http://www.billysbarbq.com

Western KY-style I believe. It's about 8 minutes' drive from my parents'.
