Looking forward to following this and meeting up with y'all at the next dinner. I recently relocated to NYC, but was out of town at the Japan DO for last weeks dinner. I believe a couple of us have met at prior NYC DOs as I see some familiar handles in the wiki.

Uzbekistan by the Beach!
 

Uzbekistan is one of only two double-landlocked countries (surrounded entirely by other landlocked nations) in the world, the other being Liechtenstein, so what better way to sample their cuisine than a day at the Rockaway Beach boardwalk? dhammer53 spotted a writeup of Uma's in the NYT (article) a few weeks back, and it seemed like a perfect way to add a new part of the city to this project.

The date of this get-together will be Saturday, August 24, and to work with dhammer's schedule that day, we will plan to go to the restaurant in the 4-5pm timeframe. Since it's a bit of a trek to get out there, I will plan to make a day of it arrive around 12-1 to spend a few hours at the beach/on the boardwalk beforehand. This is obviously a much less formal outing than usual, so feel free to come join anytime and bring along anyone you'd like.
