I will leave it to BDNYC to pick something tasty up for me since I will not make the party.;)

I'm up for the after party as well, getting into LGA around 6.15pm.

If you're even a slight bit early, you could meet up with us at San Antonio bakery. I think it's steps away from the Steinway Street M60 bus stop, just 4 stops from LGA.

M60 MAP

M60 is limited stop SBS (use Metrocard to buy a ticket first at the actual bus stop.)

Could be as little as 15 min from LGA. (7 minutes if you get that kamikaze driver who often works M60 and has been known to pass siren-blasting FDNY trucks as NYC riders grab the poles and out-of-towners claw at the exit door.)

Done. Check the menu, and I'll bring take-out. Same to you, GrjApp in case you don't make it to the dinner.

No apparent problems then. GrjApp will be there in plenty of time (unless LGA or NY flow control determines otherwise) and we can easily load enough provisions for BOB W.

:D Speaking of provisions for BOB W, does anyone know of any wine shops on the upper east side (or out there in Queens) that carry some high-end carmeneres?

Absolutely! We won't need reservations at this place, so any and all are welcome to join.

monitor - for carmenere on the UES, you might want to try Mister Wright's - 3rd Ave btwn 89th & 90th.

The Pastel de Choclo looks good and should be microwavable.

I'll try for that if we get in on time. But please clarify something - one can't just walk on with a Metrocard? I'll need to buy an actual special ticket first? I've seen those ticket machines at the stop but always thought one can just use a Metrocard as is.

Thanks, I'll check it out for Plan B purposes.

There are ticket machines at the bus stop. You swipe your Metrocard and receive a ticket in the form of a receipt. Fare is the same $2.50 as any other bus.

Yes, the ticket pre-purchase takes only 10 seconds, but allows passengers to get on using both sets of doors on the bus, and loading is quicker since nobody has to swipe on the bus. The driver doesn't check the ticket. Just have it in your possession in case an inspector comes along - European style.

And, your metrocard will remember and give you a free transfer onward if needed.

I should not given my tight schedule, but after party sounds good. I will do my best to attend. That said, give it more like 70:30 now

LuxurySuite Jan 20, 2015 4:48 pm

I will try to make it for the dinner. If I can't, the after party works for sure. Can I have the address in case? Any suggestion for the Chile wine?

I'll PM you with address info, and will defer to the group re: Chilean wine :)
