Anyone besides me interested in hockey on Friday night?

Our first trip to KRK so the Wawel Royal Castle is a must. We would like to see the Wieliczka salt mine too. I have 4 days on the ground and can be flexible if folks want to hang

Slopes? Skiing in the area?

(I think it would be better seeing some of the the more solemn historical sites in the area alone - thoughts?)

Cheers

I'm up for any suggestions/things that one wants to see.

Pretty sure I can't make it for hockey, but it sounds like it could be interesting.

I'd put Wieliczka above Wawel, but I'm a nerd who's seen Wieliczka three times but inside Wawel only once I'm also not sure if the art gallery is finally open (I think it is?) and Schindler's Factory. Also don't miss the underground museum in the Rynek.

I'm not sure how the skiing is nearby, we always go to Zakopane or Białka Tatrzańska, but there's places within 45 minutes that fullfil the basic requirements for skiing - lift, slope, place at the bottom to get stuff to perform said action. In terms of quality, though, I would say Białka is the best - most runs, most lifts, decent condition, no real vertical though.

And congrats on the post count!

Depending on your personal preference a tour to see the Concentration Camp Auschwitz-Birkenau might be worth. We did it during the Krakow Do and it is definitely something to visit even if it can be depressing.

I want to try to visit the Schindler Factory on Saturday. i just saw it from the outside but some other Flyertalkers went there and spoke very highly about it.

And we are lucky. The Christmas market opens on the 29th!! Christmas Market Krakow

YES!!! ...and that has significantly fueled my quest to figure out how to get there for this. Can't really leave work early on Friday, so sorting out flights.

I can't say for sure if the Christmas Markets will be happening (I guess I could look, though) but they might be?

How about the Xmas market and the factory (Płaszów camp and the quarry too? Both seem to be near the factory) - with some pierogis mixed in somewhere - on Sat? (Can I assume that pierogis will be widely available in the market?)

I don't want to go OT too much but is there a place to get good deals on Boleslawiec Pottery in KRK?

Happy to join you there on the Saturday as I didn't go last time - just looked from the outside.

I'd like to see that too. Reading about the area, there seems to be a few other related sights near the factory. Casp (it will be great to see you again ^) and others - interested in a walk through the area as well as a visit to the factory?

I'm working on my tickets to Poland right now. I'll be going on the 23rd to Dec. 3-4th. Definitely will go to KRK.
My plan is to do some plane spotting at Balice from early AM until 2-3pm then go to downtown and check in at the hotel (which one? I don't know yet, I'd like to stay in one where other FT people are staying).
If the weather will be bad (read rain) I'll be available for fun from early AM
