We're all go. Our first flight was held at the gate for a mechanical (broken tray table ) for a half hour but thanks to a handy electric cart we made the connection even with a few minutes to spare.
cfischer is catching up on his sleep right now, Franny is reading her latest book, and I am doing this nonsense. Everything seems to be OK and on time. Looking forward to seeing you either tonight or tomorrow noontime. Since we decided to make no decisions until tomorrow morning, we will keep you posted. |
You will see me sooner than that, I am on my way to the Hilton garden inn with the stuff, see you all in a few minutes

Bubbly and some home made chocoflan was delivered to the arriving party today.

We will meet at Mesilla at noon tomorrow Chocoflan is in the fridge, so is the 2nd bottle of bubbly ... is it :D Rebooked my flight this morning. Sorry guys, have to leave @ 4 pm on Sunday. No need to mess with the nurricane if I can avoid it. Ticket is already re-issued. |
Discretion is the better part of valor. I too would have moved that flight up to avoid the hurricane.
|
I'm up, is it time to get the party started up again?
|
Are you talking about the one that you missed last night? :D
It will take a brief hiatus until this evening when it is sure to resume. ^ |

Back in Boston now.
Thanks to jfe for the hospitality! I'll be back for ELP DO4! At some point I can hopefullt recover the Delta walkup ticket from United. They are such a terrible airline. |
It was a pleasure spending some time with you and look forward to meeting again in November.
We are all relieved that you made it home safely and in good time. We hope that the coming weather event passes you by or causes a mimimum of inconvenience or discomfort. |

I am glad to hear that you made it back home, and thanks for joining us. The guys told me that you had to dish out some major cash to get back home, I am sorry you had to do that And thanks for everyone that made it into good old El Paso, like I said in the beginning of this thread, this ain't a tourist mecca, there are things to do, that are specialized enough if you are interested. I don't think any one of this group was interested in rock climbing or desert biking :o Rosie and I were delighted that you could make it, and in a few years, after everyone forgets how boring this place is, we could do it again. But as always, if for some reason, you are in this neck of the woods, you are more than welcome to stop by and visit us. Although, there is no reason, why anyone, other than doing a cross country drive, should ever stop here. I hope you fed you enough, although I think monitor and franny didn't have enough to eat while they were here. My fajitas were not as good as last time, the meat, although I marinated it, and tenderized it like a mad man, was still tough. I didn't take that many pictures this time around, I am surprised more than anybody, but if you have some, please email them to me And thanks again, we shall do this again, hopefully soon. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8332/8...a487b9e7_z.jpg Obligatory picture at the staircase http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8336/8...85d013c8_z.jpg Dinner at Billy Crews http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8190/8...55d9a3af_z.jpg And that is not a phonebook, that is the actual wine list at Billy Crews |
Great big thank yous to Rosie and jfe for a lovely weekend. The only sour note was UA failing to take care of cfischer properly but at least he is home and (for the moment) safe.
Topping off the weekend at Billy Crews with Roxanne and Javier joining in was really great and that mountainous wine list produced a real winner for us with a Chateauneuf de Pape Guigal 2001. We could go there every night, split a steak, and drink their wine. ;) It's the second best kitchen in El Paso after the R&J house on Franklin View. :D |
