I won't be up there, but Crooked Run is a brewery that I have had good experiences with. The brewery is eclectic but their selection of beers is generally pretty good.

In that case I would hit up some of the ones in the Chantilly/Centreville-ish area off of 50 near the 50/28 junction.
This conversation makes me actually miss the DC area a little bit although I will be up staying in the Dulles are at the end of the month so maybe I will get a chance to sample some of the DMV brews that I have not yet had a chance too yet.

since I will be out in that direction anyway, I wanted to get to some of the places that require more "effort" to get to from DC (vs. the ones that are on the way or closer to IAD)Any intel on Ocelot or Honor? (I see Solace also in that cluster, but I've been to their Outpost in Falls Church, which I guess doesn't necessarily rule out going to the brewery also...

Ocelot was quite good when GrjApp and I went there (~2019)
can also recommend Ono Brewing in Chantilly from a couple visits (one with DELee) around the same time … iirc they have a self-pour pay-by-the-ounce tap system
a bit farther afield is Ornery Brewing in Gainesville; based on a meetup with a former co-worker at their Fairfax location, I’d say it’s well worth a try
Mrs767 and I arrive IAD on Thu 31 Jul ~430p; we could perhaps be persuaded to make a stop at one of these venues to let traffic die down before we set off on the drive to RIC

Between yesterday and today, I managed to get to:
- Lark Brewing -- note, can only legally be entered from the southbound direction on US15, though you can turn left when exiting. Decent beers and food, and an airy/expansive indoor area plus a bunch of different outdoor areas. They also have wines and I think other beverages, which I didn't pay a lot of attention to so dunno the range there
- Quattro Goombas, which is located on the other side of the US15/US50 junction from Lark not too far away, which is a winery that also has a craft beer brewery; also pretty decent beers
- Mustang Sally, which seems to have recently merged with Bunnyman? They also happened to be hosting a taco/salsa festival with food trucks etc. in the parking lot today, though I just went inside for beers and a sausage from Eugene's. Beers were all right, maybe a notch lower than the prevoius two
- Honor Brewing/Loudon location, also largish indoor/outdoor areas but also not as fond of the beers (not bad, just didn't really grab me)

Had intended to visit Ocelot last before heading home, but decided I wasn't feeling it today and will save it for next time...

Last visit to Quattro Goombas, they had a Belgian Quad which was decent.
Perhaps a bit far too west for OP, but we love visiting Dirt Farm in Bluemont for the epic views (next door to Bluemont Winery), Bear Chase (reliable variety), and esp. for weekday happy hours More Better beer garden (fantastic German beers for $3/$4/$5 after 3pm/4pm/5pm).
will keep in mind for the future, but not quite in fitting with "west/south of IAD" part of this weekend's mission

I wasn't enamored of Ono's beers (still self pour sytsem); the bbq was good though.

Mrs767 and I will be in the DC area (staying at HGI Court House) Sun evening until Thu mid-day
we’re longtime fans of Fire Works — we hosted my “retiring/not retiring” social here in Mar 2024, and if memory serves, it was also the venue for the first DCHH I joined (~ 10 years ago
)
not sure what time we’ll be driving up from RIC on Sun27 28, so proposing either Mon 28 29 or Tue 29 30

I could make either night work. Somehow even though I moved to DC I seem to have missed more then when I was commuting here for work.
