Mrs767 and I will be staying in Crystal City; ATOBTTR (pending approval of travel) will be staying in Pentagon City; HPN-HRL will be staying downtown for a change of pace, it might be nice to try a downtown venue … although something in the Rosslyn area might be workable given that the Yellow Line is MIA (12-14) Zorak will be in the BWI area; ATOBTTR and Mrs767 will have returned home; I will be staying in Ballston ideas welcome 🍻 |

I can do the 9th, but not the 8th. Downtown or Rosslyn would work fine (or split the difference and go to somewhere near Foggy Bottom). Let me think of possible places over the next couple of days.
As for places in the District, I've been wanting to try MoiMoi, which is West African / Southern U.S. A less adventurous option would be Barcode near Farragut Square which runs more to pizza, pasta, and burgers/sandwiches and such, but I am concerned about noise levels. |
just received an invite to a company holiday social at Clyde's Mark Center on Thurs 8th, 1800-1930, so we should be able to join an FT meetup in the Crystal City / Pentagon City area ~1945 or along the Orange Line corridor (Rosslyn / Court House / Clarendon / Ballston) ~2000
both of mhnadel's Rosslyn suggestions look good, but Open Road website says they close at 9pm ... from past experience (albeit a few years ago), Tupelo Honey and Barley Mac -- a couple blocks west on Wilson Blvd -- are also very good Copperwood Tavern in Shirlington is a great venue, and maybe 5 min from Mark Center, but it's only reachable by car or bus |
appears that Fri 9th is more viable for more people, so we’re back to the usual decision process regarding when and where
Orange Line corridor scores high for Metro accessibility; Crystal City / Pentagon City area scores high for proximity to where most non-locals are staying |
Pentagon Row has Mattie and Eddie's, which is from Cathal Armstrong who used to have a few places in Alexandria. There is also Nighthawk Brewery and Pizza which has a promising beer list.
|
Mattie and Eddie’s carries on the Irish pub tradition in the former Sine space; it’s quite good
GrjApp and I stopped at Nighthawk a couple months ago and found it a good venue; Kusshi is another newcomer for those who enjoy sushi and sake … will try to find pix |
Kusshi Sushi is pretty good, if it's the same franchise as the one in Bethesda.

🍺 a very FTer-appropriate Japanese beer🍺 iirc the sushi was quite good, although the bar seating was awkward in terms of height still looking for documentation of our stop at Nighthawk |
My trip was cancelled, so I'm out for this time around. :(

sorry to miss you, but we can always try to catch up in the Real Washington 😎☕️
