I395 had a four-car crash just before washington boulevard. By the time I could extract myself from that it was 730. Typical plan wrecker....

Crystal City / Pentagon City, Mon 23 May and/or Tue 24 May

Mon — meeting up with a former USAF colleague ~530-630 at Ruth’s Chris; no plans for the rest of the evening

Tues — have chatted with GrjApp about Royal Nepal in Del Ray area of Alexandria (not particularly convenient to Metro trains, but on the 10A bus from Pentagon / Pentagon City; it's a block south of the Executive Ave time point) ... many of the staff at Himalayan WIld Yak which we enjoyed earlier today are alumni of this place

GrjApp and I are presently at Nighthawk Pizza (which occupies the former Champps Sports Pub space at Pentagon Row)

I'll be in town (Bethesda area) July 6-12 if anyone else is in town and wants to meet up.

Zorak Sep 10, 2022 1:01 pm

Planning on meeting sky303 at Farmers Fishers Bakers in Georgetown, this Tuesday 7pm, if anyone wants to join us!

jrl767 Sep 10, 2022 1:37 pm

Metro issues Sep thru May

DC locals are probably aware of this, but PSA for the out-of-towners:

there is * NO METRO SERVICE * south of DCA on either the Blue or Yellow Lines until late Oct, to bring the Potomac Yard station on line

worse, the Yellow Line is also shut down between DCA and L’Enfant Plaza until May (yep, eight months) for construction work on the bridge and tunnel

There will be bus service replacing the trains. Having endured several months of Orange Line shutdowns for various construction projects, WMATA actually does okay with the replacement bus shuttles.

Re: the Yellow Line work, they are adding additional Blue Line trains from DCA to New Carrollton. That's obviously slower (more stops) but it's still better than driving.

I’m in DC for a work trip, probably can’t make it for dinner because of prior commitments, but would be happy to meet for after dinner drinks!

Thanks for these updates. I will be in town in early October and twice in December.

Polytonic Sep 30, 2022 3:28 pm

In town through October 11th if anything is going on. Bethesda again, as usual, but am happy to drive somewhere (traffic permitting).
