Are there many runners on FT? Enough for a runners DO?

I have ran numerous half marathons, though never a full 26. That takes a big time commitment to train up for it.
I would be interested in a half marathon / DO kind of event.

Fitness-oriented FTers, such as those who posted here, might be interested in this thread in the TalkBoard Topics forum about creating a new forum on travel health and fitness.
If you support this forum, you might want to post your reasons in that thread. Try to relate your post to the forum's benefits for FT, how much activity the thread will have, and so on, rather than just saying you think it's a good idea.
Thanks!!

I have run 32 full marathons. Did Miami last week, no training, I hate running in the snow. I ran with my nephew, he only did the half, I told him he has to try a full marathon. I had run many half marathons, mostly in New York City area. 5 years ago I drove to Cincinnati, I signed up for theirr marathon (Flying Pig) I was nervous about doing a full but it was great and I was excited after crossing the finish line.

Just discovered this thread, but I'd love to meet up for a race! I've run 64 marathons, live in NYC, work in DC, and I'm happy to go most places in the country (or possibly international with some advance planning). Also happy to provide recommendations for fun races/places... I've run a marathon in all 50 states, so have a pretty good idea of what's good and what's terrible

Thanks for your post SceneStealer7. I've only met a few people who are members of the '50 states' club (meaning those who have run a marathon in all 50 states as you have). I'd love to say that I could be part of that club some day, but that is an awfully ambitious goal for sure. Kudos to you for sure a great accomplishment.

). If I can find a running event that is the same weekend as a baseball game and supermodel photo shoot, I'll PM you before I post it anywhere else.

I could definitely be in for a Runners DO. Did my first half-marathon last year and am already signed up for two this year (with plans for more).
Keeping in mind the varied abilities of FTers, what about the San Francisco Marathon (and half, and 5k)? It's on July 31, 2011 (and isn't yet sold out, although it's expected to). Each attendee could pick the race that's right for him/her, since they're all run the same day.

Runner here...
Chicago x2
Grandma's x3
Twin Cities
Kansas City
Flying Pig ('Nati)
Mardi Gras (N'awlins)
NYC
Berlin
Olathe
Big Sur
Los Angeles
My 2011 weekends are mostly booked but would consider a Running Do in 2012 at some point. We will likely wind up at Grandma's in June of '12.

Mardi Gras was last weekend, so that one's out... unless you're suggesting it for 2012?
Which Kansas City do you mean? You didn't put your schedule in chronological order so I can't tell.
I don't think NYC would be a good pick given how difficult it is for non-New Yorkers to qualify.
If you already have 3 people in for Grandma's, that could be a great one, though of course tough to find major hotels for rewards (this IS FlyerTalk!
), but we should probably decide fast before it sells out.

Qualifying for NYC is hard - you have to be faster than Boston, IIRC - but you can also get in via lottery. But wow what an experience once you get in!
I doubt I'll do it again myself, but I'd recommend Big Sur to anyone...tons of wonderful places to stay and it's a great course, albeit a bit of a hilly one.
For a city Do, Chicago's always a good call and I've successfully used both Marriott and Starwood awards there on race weekend.
