Randy-DO 2011
 

I would like to volunteer to host a DO in honor of Randy's just announced departure.

Hopefully, Randy will weigh in about his avails starting in 2011. I am offering Cleveland as the host location, but am willing to surrender to another location if Randy and popular opinion so dictate.

Here's hoping that the RANDY-DO coms to fruition, and that Randy will post at some point about his willingness and ability to participate. He has acknowledged to me via email that he is aware of this Randy-Do offer.

Count me as keenly interested and hope the dates will allow me to escape. Meeting more FTers including Randy would be a Do well worth attending. :)

Excellent idea! I'd love to attend this, as it would be my first Do, and it would be a very special event! Perhaps DEN would be a good place to have an event? Or, maybe we need to do a flight such as FlyerTalk 1, along with Captain Denny Flanagan..

Most certainly will puddle jump Lake Erie to attend if I'm not on another continent.

Hawaii??? From PIP to HIP: From Party in Paradise to Hang (it up) in Paradise. I initially riffed with Retire in Paradise, but “RIP” didn’t really hit the tone that I thought that we would want to aim for.

Of course…Cleveland is nice too, and anywhere that this party was would be a paradise of, and for, FT-ers.

Good idea. Randy is a gentleman and his role in FlyerTalk is certainly deserving of what could turn into the biggest Do in the history of Dos!

beaubo, Good idea. I'm coming into my off-season, so I have the time. And who wouldn't want to go the CLE in the winter? :D

Let do it in West Coast, good weather and fun places.

I think it would be appropriate to hold in Rome. The Eternal City. What do you think Randy?

I was thinking along Jailers lines and a PIP type event. the only drawback is it would probably limit the numbers but a PIP brought this site in (before my time) and a PIP would be neat to send him off

may I ask, why CLE? is he from there or something? isn't he in COS?

If a PIP is out of the question and I understand why; I would think a major hub like ORD might allow for the most flights out of the most cities but I'm just thinking out loud here

Another "thought" is a city like MSY where well.. lets just say its a fun city lol

How about an FT Roast? With the right participants and control, it could be amazing.

I like the idea of doing it in Hawaii, what a great DO, very proper for Randy to have it in warm place during Winter.

I like this one since it seems so fitting.

Schedule permitting I'm in!! Maybe we should let Randy choose the venue!

Margo and I are flying SYD-USA-Brazil on Dec 16, and had planned to make it one long 30 hour, 15,000 mile day.

If perchance December 16 works for Randy and/or those organising count us in - we'll detour via any city in the lower 48 to be there for dinner, and re-ticket the Brazil leg. :cool:

Randy's announcment said - "I announce that I will be leaving FlyerTalk at the end of the year" so mid December seems pretty good timing before the Xmas 'silly season' sets right in!
