I just upped my breast cancer walk goal again. Hope I make it. But my 'training' (LOL) might go down the tube cuz we're expecting rain for 4 days coming up, and everyone knows I'm made out of sugar & will melt. ;) :)

Also, once again, how far away is the metro from the Keybridge? I was told today it's a 10-minute walk (without luggage), so getting a bit concerned about that, given I'll have luggage at least 2x.

Cheers.

Assuming you are referring to the Key Bridge Marriott, it's only about 3 or 4 blocks. Admittedly, long blocks but maybe a quarter mile at most. You want to exit the metro station onto Fort Meyer Drive (up a short flight of stairs) and turn right. Walk 2 blocks to Lee Highway (crossing over I-66) and turn left.

3-4 blocks at most. I can see the Metro station out of my office window (just looked, it's still there ;) ), and were it not for the Hyatt, I could see the Marriott. I've walked longer distances to get to the gate in some airports.

I'd say 5-7 minutes sans luggage, a bit longer if you hit the traffic lights at Lee Highway wrong or come out the wrong entrance of Metro. If you've got wheeled luggage, you should have no issue. IMHO, of course.

And its downhill or flat :)

There are a series of overhead walkways to get to the Key Bridge Marriott.
There would be three - one to get across Lee Highway one direction, then one over cross street, then one over other direction of Lee Highway to get to Key Bridge Marriott. There is a small park after the first overhead walk bridge.

Likely best to do the street with luggage. Not sure if I would do the overhead walkways (they are pretty long and narrow) at night, alone and then going through the park. But street level crosswalks might be limited - since they have the overhead walkways.

There's no problem with crosswalks there. I used to work in Rosslyn and walked part of the Custis Trail home many times, which requires more or less the same route. (As does walking over the Key Bridge to Georgetown, which I've been known to do.)

I find the overhead walkways very confusing, personally.

+1. It'll be easier at street level. When & where (IAD or DCA) are you coming in Sharon?

I go in/out of DCA. I get in on Thurs & actually will head into town w/ another FTer to visit/have a meal, and then out to VA from the city later in evening, so schlepping roll-aboard around. On Sunday I'm doing the breast cancer walk, then the brunch, & then out to IAD area for the museum tour & then hurrying back to DCA, so will be schlepping the roll-aboard around - is the brunch location accessible via metro or will I be cabbing it?

I'm trying to remind myself that if I can handle the London tube & walking around London, I can handle the DC metro & walking around DC/VA (although it should be noted, I invariably turn left when I should have turned right & end up lost easily).

Can't remember what I put on my registration form, but I think everyone has figured out I'm at the Keybridge Marriott :)

Cheers.

Brunch is definitely metro-accessible. It is about 2 blocks (easy ones) from the CLARENDON metro station, a few stops from Rosslyn Metro (where your hotel is) on the ORANGE line. Just take the line heading towards Vienna.

Ah, Ok. I work a block from Metro in Rosslyn, would offer to meet you and point you the right direction if you were arriving at Rosslyn during work hours. Or drive you the 3-4 blocks. can't do it after work hours due to schedule that day.

Brunch is near the Clarendon Metro. This would be the Orange line, which is one of the two lines serving the Rosslyn station (take the Orange Line in direction of Vienna).

Well, the UK drives on the left, so that's to be expected. ;)

UA increased the number of people we could have for the IAD Tour on the 7th by a few. Congrats to the people who have now been cleared, but there are STILL people on the waitlist.

If you have a CONFIRMED reservation for the Tour (eg received an email that states you are confirmed with a PDF attached), but cannot make the Tour please let us know ASAP. There are people ready and willing to take your place :) If you have not received that email then you are NOT confirmed for the tour, but you can still ask to be added to the waitlist.

Maybe you should honor your Los Angeles roots and rent a car :D:D This walking stuff seems to stump you. BTW, DC blocks are l-o-n-n-g. If someone says "two blocks north" be sure to take water and trail mix.

I will pick you up to take you to the brunch Sharon, since I will have a car.
