That is pretty restrictive. I am on the 25th month after my last Citi Thank You Premier application. I also want to get the Citi Custom card with $300 bonus in form of 30,000 TY points. I guess I can only pick one of them then.

Really? Not 0 new inquiries?
There are at least four reasons why that distinction makes a lot of difference:
1. Inquiries in most cases are only one bureau, while new accounts show up on all 3 bureaus.
2. Inquires appear on the credit virtually instantly, while it can take weeks before a new account appears.
3. Inquiries are done for business cards, but business cards from most banks never appear as new account on consumer credit reports.
4. Things like car loans and mortgages generate inquiries too, but are not considered new accounts by any credit card issuer who looks at new accounts.
A lot of people who are trying avoid to Chase's 5/24 might have a bunch of inquiries for business cards, but those business cards never show up as new accounts on their personal credit reports.
So for all of these reasons (and maybe even others I didn't think of), it's important to know whether it's really 0/6 new accounts on all 3 credit reports, or 0/6 inquiries on whichever bureau Citi ends up pulling for you.

I skimped through several recent pages and didn't see this mentioned. While there is a good chance I can fulfill the minimum spend for SUB through regular purchases, but if the need arises, is it okay to buy a few merchant GCs (gas stations, restaurants, retailers, etc.) at supermarkets? Or is Citi similar to Amex where it would be asking for trouble (Amex actually deducts the value of GCs in determining minimal spend in my recent experience)? TIA.

I applied for a Capital One Venture X got approved, then got trigger happy and applied for an Amex Platinum and Citi Premier. Amex called me and approved me after verifying some info.
My Citi Premier app got denied because of too many inquiries, they pulled Experian which Capital One and Amex also pulled.
Has anyone been successful with a recon? Please let me know what I should do.
When I called the recon line, the rep said it was because I had a pull on my Experian report from the Capital One application on the same day. She said they could pull another report but I know that Capital One pulled all 3.
My question is if they pull my Equifax or Transunion, I'll only have that 1 Capital One pull on both and 2 car loan inquiries from February on my Transunion. How many is "too many" for Citi? They keep the application open for 60 days she said, should I try again in a few weeks and have them pull Equifax?

I have a Citi Bank Platinum credit card and decided to apply for their Premier card. My Esperian credit score is 776 & Transunion is over 800 with total debt of -$100 since I pay off the balance immediately. My new application was declined so I call the Citi credit Card office and spoke with a Manager as to the reason. I was told that I didn't carry enough debt for the available $52,000 credit line I currently have available. I use this card frequently but will be chopping it up after the last payment.

Why would Citi extend more credit to someone who does not use the credit lines they already have? It's simple to fix this at no cost, but closing your existing Citi account isn't the right approach. You need to stop doing this "since I pay off the balance immediately" for a few cycles. I am not suggesting that you carry a balance and pay interest, just stop paying early.

0/6 inquiries, 1/12 cards.
Credit score 810.
After reading about several denials due to unused credit, I distributed spend across several credit cards.
Overall utilization: 1% ($2000/$150,000)
12 open credit cards + 1 AU, with 10 of those cards reporting a balance, and the highest utilization of 5%

I did not have any problem with Amex by doing it this way.

At both Amex and Citi, the key is to "hide" the gift cards. Buy them along with some random groceries on the same purchase, and the smaller the merchant gift cards you buy in each purchase, the better. Multiple smaller gift cards combined with other grocery store purchases each time is much less suspicious than one stand-alone giant gift card purchase at a grocery store.

Was this for SUB? I didn't run into any problem with Amex purchasing GCs per se, but I also didn't factor them into the minimum spend for SUB because there was a supermarket promotion (x10 bonus). When my SUB didn't post at the time I thought I had crossed the threshold, I called to inquire. The figure I was quoted by the Amex rep was exactly what I had calculated minus all GCs I had purchased. The problem with SUB not posting turned out to be something else, but any GCs I had purchased definitely did NOT count towards the minimum at Amex's end. That's why I want to see if it's similar with Citi. I have read reports that Chase doesn't care (except for maybe blatant MS via Visa/MC GC purchases). Maybe Citi is somewhere in between? Thanks.

When I had the 10x grocery promotion on AMEX Platinum I bought a $200 grocery store gift card with every shopping purchase — stockpiling something like $4000 of grocery store gift cards which I am burning through now. Didn’t have a problem — my local grocery store doesn’t transmit L3 data.
