free night availability errors on website
I was just on the website to reserve a CP points free room for September 9th. In the initial display of hotels in the area of interest the property I decided to select showed "rooms available". Upon clicking the select button, the next page for the property showed many rooms available for money but a red text message stated "no rooms available for points". This seemed quite odd and so I called the toll-free number.
The representative I spoke to took my information and said there were plenty of rooms available for points, and asked if I'd like the room with the whirlpool tub in it or not. When I inquired why I there were no CP points rooms showing availability on the website, she told me the website is often in error and that it's always better to call. The impression I had was that calling not only would find rooms for points that otherwise don't show on the website but that this would also improve your chances of getting a nicer one.
Promotions often require using the website to qualify, so I'd only plan to call when using points, but this information may prove useful to others.

Anyway, I'm glad it worked out over the phone.

Another thing that shows up is if any of the dates are beyond your window (30, 60, or 90 days, depending on your status), they will show no availability.

I was logged in and had not timed out. And yes, I had plenty of points to make the reservation with. Further, this is within less than 30 days so the window does not matter. The error message was not on the first page that displays all the hotels, listing the cost in points per day, but occurred on the property-specific page after hitting 'select'.
