Reading that report it is probably wise to carry a printout of the notification of visa free travel in english & chinese with you. Does anyone here know where to find this notification on the government websites?
For example the addition of Norway to the 72/144 h TWOV is here: https://www.nia.gov.cn/n741440/n7415...5/content.html
I only have the Munich Consulate notification in German... that won't go far

I suppose that depends on the specific hotel, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over this; translate the German article from your phone, if it really comes down to that (it shouldn't).

We slept in chinese brand hotel in smaller cities, they just copied the immigration stamp in the passport and took some pictures from us. Sometimes from a fixed camera but mostly just from their smartphones as the fixed cameras wasn't working.

I've been travelling with the visa in my old passport for a while now and I haven't had any Chinese hotels ask to see it (only the new passport is needed for check-in). So chances are they don't even care whether you're visa-free or on a visa.

I've had hard times during hotel check-in explaining that I don't have any recent arrival stamps, as I use eChannel. I often have to stop them from looking through the passport where they're searching for the latest stamp.
"I don't have an entry stamp as I used electronic arrival procedures: I arrived in China on xxxx" in Chinese, they nod and acknowledge that, then proceed again to look for the most recent arrival stamp.

Okay, inquiring minds want to know: how do you print out the slip?
Will definitely need this in the future.
(At a Holiday Inn, and it took about 10 minutes and 4 times explaining that I don't have a current arrival stamp.
