That's sort of what I thought -- quite inconvenient. When you have a spray-style cologne dispenser, this becomes a major PITA.

100mll. is the accepted metric equivalent of 3oz.

skAAtinsteph Sep 25, 2006 1:08 pm

Many of the travel size commertially packaged items I'm looking at here have no size on them. They are all probably less than 1oz though - I could take a pen and write 1oz on them???

(emphasis mine)

Where are you getting that from? Most of my re-used containers have no such volume labels or they have long since worn off. Most hotel shampoo bottles have no such volume label.

It's going to be a nightmare scenario if TSA starts stealing/confscating items based on lack of label, and if they do that I'll go right back to smuggling the items like I've been doing since 8/11.

They had better exercise some common sense and recognize that anything that fits "comfortably" in the quart-sized bag is pretty much under 3 oz. But I'm not hopeful.

You may bring the spray applicator bottle empty, on board in your carry-on, and 3oz. of cologne in a 3oz. travel size bottle in your 8" x 7.5" TSA screening baggie, if that helps.

I believe they will be exercising some common sense.

They know the difference between a 1oz. and a 3 oz. bottle.

I'm sorry if this is rendundant - the search keeps timing out on me.

Is there any allowance for bringing Juice Boxes if you're traveling with a toddler? I could have sworn I heard on the news that juice boxes were Ok with a toddler but the TSA site doesn't say anything about it. I'm traveling with my 2 year old in a couple of weeks and he does best with Juice boxes - something I don't often see in airport shops.

Back from the Drugstore

Since I have to travel this week, I scooted up to the drugstore and.... I found lots of choices all clearly labeled at three oz or less including gel deodorant, shave cream, etc. Toothpaste choices were limited (at least for me) to real small sizes as most tubes start at 4 oz.

Bottom line is that regardless of the merits and rationality of TSA edicts, I will have no difficulty complying. Just don't go to Costco. I even have quart baggies at home - which come to think of it must have come from Costco since we have 5,000 of em.

Do they make a 3oz. Juice Box?

Yes! We agree! It is EASY now to carry-on and comply with TSA for us. And I think TSA is responding to those with additional medical needs as well.

Coming from the government that tells us everything they do is making us safer, expecting common sense and non-ignorance to always triumph is expecting too much.

Remember the shoe carnival? Still around, and revisions in the policy were never systematically practiced.

This is an improvement, but insufficient.

Hi GUWonder! It may just feel good like when you stop hitting your head against the wall, but it feels good nonetheless!
