I got through yesterday with no problem with my non-presrciption aspirin tablets.

Tablets are okay as long as they are not that gel-form.

Thanks, but the question that HereAndThere and I have is about carrying different vitamins in one container rather than carrying all of the original containers.

I think that the answer is not that they will be confiscated if not in the original container, but that there is a better chance that they might be confiscated.

Technically, prescriptions can only be carried in the original labeled bottle and this seems to apply to medications in a form that would not otherwise be prohibited, i.e. tablets. If you have tablets that you cannot demonstrate to the TSO are not prescription, they may be confiscated. Then, again, they may not because, of course, non-prescription tablets are generally allowed in your carry-on in any quantity.

When the rules make no sense, it is awfully hard to interpret them.

I'll let you know in a couple of hours. I've got my weekly pill container with my Lipitor, vitamins, fibre supplements, & aspirin. All are in dry pill form.

They'll ground that plane slicker than ice if they catch you with evening primrose gel capsules on board!

Ok, how about another troublesome case:

What if you need a bottle of water to take medicine? I'm not talking about simply to swallow with--any liquid will do. I'm talking about stuff that has to be mixed with water before taking.

Joking aside, is this serious? My husband has an unavoidable flight on Sunday, doesn't check bags and always travels with a large supply of vitamins, including fish oil capsules. There's still time to get him an RX if necessary.

Only 3 choices: get a Rx, smuggle, or pack as usual, prepared to give 'em up or not, if requested. That's how I see it.

True, but do the airside shops sell toiletries anymore? I haven't flown in a few weeks but I can't imagine you can buy shampoo, deoderant, toothpaste, etc, at an airside shop anymore. Not that the typical airport gift shop had a wide selection of toiletries to begin with.

It appears to be completely unpredictable, per TSA. Some airside toiletry shops are reported open, some are reported closed.

Now I am depressed. After 9/11, I used to walk around the office with a plastic knife, citing my preparation to hijack an airliner. I'd been doing it again, with my lipgloss but now I will upgrade to a fish oil capsule.

Very, VERY enjoyable. Even at three bucks a gallon. Every once in awhile I'd hear a jet overhead, wonder who I might be sitting next to up there, and smile a little smile.
I guess that's one of the perks of retirement. I'm just staying put for right now.
