I wouldn't challenge it either, if I were in their situation. Being in quarantine would prevent me from infecting my friends and family with the virus if I happen to have it and CDC has shown evidence that it may be transmissible while asymptomatic. Furthermore, if I happen to be patient zero in a transmission chain that happens to start a pandemic in the US, I will be persona non grata with my face plastered all over social media, ESPECIALLY if it turns out that I challenged the quarantine that could have prevented it.

Happened to see this with some background historical info. I thought it was interesting at least..

Coronavirus and the Constitution

A reader asked me about the constitutionality of quarantines and similar measures; I haven't studied the subject at all, but I thought I'd ask, Prof. Ed Richards, who is an expert in the field (both on the law side and on the public health side; he has an M.P.H. as well as a J.D.). Prof. Richards was kind enough to pass along the following:...

Depending on how it's done, forced isolation and quarantine can make some public health threats worse than they would otherwise be.

Blind faith in government -- or even public health authorities -- is not without its risks. And skepticism directed at those in positions of privilege has a long history of being the necessary handmaiden for progress.

While surely we disagree on many things, this is one where I'm in complete agreement. In m view, regardless of whatever Admin/Party in power, always operate from the assumption that Gov't exists to serve itself first before those they govern.

Serious question: how are we supposed to know where the line is?

Are comparisons of different countries responses allowed vis their political stances and response/s? If a country *makes* it a political response (eg. if Boris Johnson or Trump ordered X or Y "Because Those Dirty Foreigners...") then is it up for discussion? What's the context and line, pls?
