Removal from "No-Fly" List

One person has finally succeeded in getting off the No-Fly list after a seven year battle. I wonder how much it cost.

Hell, it only took about 4 years to get off McCarthy's Red list back in the 1950's.
Something very kooky must be going on.

From Uncle Sam, not from Ibrahim. Her work was Sonny Bono

"Ibrahim's pro bono attorney, Elizabeth Pipkin, has asked for the government to pay more than $3.5 million to cover her legal fees and costs. Alsup didn't rule on that motion, but said that the issue was "not easy," while indicating that Pipkin is unlikely to be entitled to such a large payout."

The no fly list should be abolished.

It is "not easy" because the judge has to hit the taxpayers with a huge bill for the government's misbehavior. Almost every factor for a large award of fees in this case is present. Will it be $3.5 million? 2 million? 1.5 million? We'll find out soon enough. Certainly the award should exceed lodestar rates for a case like this.

[sarcasm] See, I don't know why everyone gets so upset about the no-fly list. Clearly, it's possible to get yourself removed.[/sarcasm]

The sad thing is that would be the kind of excuse the government can and does use to lawfully continue this administrative blacklist nonsense.

Wonder if this is like the TSA in reverse:

"The one person who was removed from the blacklist is in no way representative of the 40,000 potential terrorists that we track every day..."

I thought that everyone who wanted to travel on commercial airliners was a "potential terrorist."

Sorry, you are correct. I should have written, "double-secret-probation potential terrorist."
