Are you kidding?

Pistole is the one who came up with PreCheck. @:-)

It's a very very special privilege, only for GE members. And, uh, for some frequent flyers. Well, and anyone who has $85 to spare. And..., okay..., y'all look like nice people over there, you can get in the PreCheck line too.

Pistole deserves an Emmy Award for "Outstanding Director of a Comedy Series." :-:

For heaven's sake it's a 'layer', remember TSA security is based on this concept, a little like a layer cake.

They were obviously there to keep you safe, because "safety is [their] priority." Now stop asking ridiculous questions like "how?" That's highly classified information.

The only layers here are the layers of crap the TSA keeps smearing on the traveling public.

I don't think cbp would be pleased with unnecessary people in their security area without a legitimate need to be there. Maybe it was BDO clerks

Yeah, by all means, let's go back to the way it was done before 9/11. Oh wait...9/11 happened on their watch.

CBP agents are trained (and probably better trained) to spot pax who are acting uneasy because they're carrying contraband - of any sort.

TSA has a second crack at them if they are connecting to a domestic flight or terminating at an airport that requires all exiting pax to be rescreened anyway.

That's absolutely puzzling. I mean fine if they want to screen people who want to get back on the plane, but unless the flight is coming from Afghanistan or some place with dubious airport security, what's the point.

They were recently randomly screening passengers on my flight from DEN to NRT at the gate. I just couldn't help but think what a waste of personnel that was. Cursorily flipping through a bag by hand is absolutely nothing like putting it through an X-ray machine. They have a much, much better chance of finding anything at the checkpoint.

If a passenger was terminating at an airport that forces passengers in the sterile area, the passenger could press for an escort to street. Anyways at Dulles all passengers are bussed to cbp unless connecting ua pax in c and d gates. No need for tsa in a and b gates

Cockpit doors are hardened and passengers will not comply with terrorists.

So, 9/11 cannot happen again. Why not go back to pre 9/11 security?

9/11 did not happen due to lax security. 9/11 happened because airline employees, at the direction of the federal government, cooperated with criminals.

Definitely let's go back to the way it was done before 9/11. Cowardice, ignorance, and lies about lax airport security should not deter us from upholding American principles at our airports.

Thanks for the clarification about the setup at IAD (never been through there). I was, of course, speaking in general terms. I haven't seen a configuration where it made sense for TSOs to be monitoring the area between the plane and the customs exit.
