In this instance, I think the adults were just as much at fault for putting the 13 year old in this situation -- not necessarily by flying her unccompanied, but by not escorting her through security themselves.

I'm not a TSApologist *at all* and think this was way disrepectful and over the top; and yet, they're not alone in any damage this caused the child in question.

I think in blaming the parents you are dead wrong. What person expects that their child's genitals will be fondled by employees of the government as a condition of travel? That's not even a question a rational person who is not a frequent traveler would dream of asking. Yes, there are stories in the media about the TSA and some of their uglier actions, but I have yet to see a story clearly explaining that those actions are now the TSA norm of searching and not the ugly exception. Not everyone comes to FT, and not everyone reads stories about the TSA unless they have a particular interest in air travel.

I began flying around the U.S. solo at age 12, a long time ago, and after my second or third unaccompanied flight, my parents didn't feel the need to hover over me until take-off - I was in an airport, with security guards, so of course I was safe!

Now it is the "security" that we have to worry about harming our children.

So true and so scary. The people who suppossed to keep us safe are now the people we have to keep on eye on for danger.

The biggest problem in getting the public to realize how dangerous the Blue Shirts are is the words the Blue Shirts use. Most people believe "pat down" is not inherently invasive. When I flew out of TOL last week the Blue Shirt was rubbing my legs, I pulled away and told her that she told me she would "pat" me down not "rub" me down and I demanded that she pat me, instead of rubbing her hands on me. She sighed loudly and said her search involves rubbing. I told her she should have been more specific with her wording. Blue Shirts also dont announce that they will run their hands through women's hair. When the Blue Shirt did this to me, I pulled away and told her I never consented to having my hair touched because she never told me she would touch my hair. She didnt try to touch my hair again.

I've been thinking about creating a flyer to pass out to flyers at the airport that tell the truth about the Blue Shirts and their terrorism of the traveling public.

Start with this one: I've passed out hundreds and left hundreds more in tourist kiosks, public bathrooms and rent-a-car kiosks.

Wimpie, thanks for the brochure.

But, to bring down the TSA it must be discredited. Right now the focus is on the machines. There is not enough information about the machines to discredit them, though that in and of itself should be enough to discredit them, and the media has pretty much given up accurately and intensively reporting on the pornoscanners. I'd like to create a brochure discussing how Pissy admitted the pornoscanners would not have detected the Christmas bomber, how children under 12 would NEVER be molested, how the pornoscanners would NEVER be used as a primary means of screening, how the TSA has harassed and intimidated the flying public with regard to filming molestations, etc. Maybe showing the actions of the Blue Shirts, consolidated on one page with cites for readers to verify, and possibly learn more through their research, would do a lot more than we have been able to do thus far.

Yeah, but remember, these are TSOs we're talking about. You wouldn't have to be crazy if you really, really, really, wanted to fondle those genitals.
