If we meet and we have coffee, can we bring it through the checkpoint if we give you the secret handshake?

Out of curiosity, have you and carolinaflyr sent a note to RDU's management letting them know about your decision to avoid their airport? Ideally with copies also sent to, among others, the News and Observer and WRAL?

Several messages to the airport management, with polite return messages that basically say nothing.

RDU is in NC state legislative district 41, Rep. Tom Murray (contact).

Don't know how many actual airport employees live there though, so you might also want to contact adjoining districts' reps, as well.

You can find info for your own NC representative (if you have one) here

Yes. Received a robo-reply that they were working with TSA on "delays" at terminal 2 and would refer my complaint to TSA for a response, from whom the silence is deafening. No comment on attitude or behavior.

Any correspondence with RDU management leads to a canned letter saying something that proves they didn't actually read the letter.

I'd fly out of GSO, but their flight schedule to EWR isn't as convenient as RDU.

RDU Getting New Airport Director

RDU is my home airport too. While I've not had terrible experiences there, I do feel the TSOs are lacking a certain, shall we say, southern charm. And the use of the MMWs as primary is discouraging. (and annoying. I'm currently running about 90%/10% gropes vs non-gropes. It's difficult to SDOO. )

The current airport director, John Brantley, announced in March that he is retiring at the end of July. The search for a new director is on-going.

With a pending change in manangement, it might be worth the effort to continue complaining.

Not through the checkpoint, but I will return the secret handshake and walk with you to the Dunkin Doughnuts shop in the terminal where you will be able to take it with you on the plane!

Our flight schedule to EWR is not as well suited as RDU for frequent travel. EWR has problems with weather effect during the summer as well, we get quite a few delays/cancellations there during the boomer season.
