============================================

[/b] 50 + 5k offer for personal card. Requires MileagePlus login; redirects to https://www.theexplorercard.com/50kAFW
  • 50k miles after $3000 spend within first 3 months
  • 5k miles for adding an authorized user
  • No annual fee first year
  • No FTF
  • Each calendar year, you are eligible to receive one 10,000-mile bonus after you reach $25,000 in net purchases on your Card.

For discussion of card benefits, see the master thread in the United forum.
My math says a 50K offer. Where do the extra points come from?
The extra 5000 points come from adding an authorized user after you have been approved for the card.
Is there a business card?
Yes, and Flyertalk has a thread devoted to the business card: United business card: 50k+10k united miles
Can I apply for this card and earn the bonus after doing so previously?
See the wiki and related discussion in Applying for Chase Credit Cards- May 2015-Present

Hi, this is my first post but I've been lurking around FT for about a year now. After ALOT of trial and error, I finally got to the 50k bonus offer screen and successfully applied for the card. So I figured I'd share my experience and hopefully it can help someone out as the several contributors before this post have helped me.

Background:
I'm currently a UA Club card holder with about 38k miles in my MP account. Not sure any of this matters, but I wasn't even getting the 30k offer for this card when attempting to apply let alone the 30k banner mentioned in the wiki. Now to the steps... I'm just going to put out bullet points because I'm too lazy to type out detailed instructions. If something doesn't make sense feel free to PM me.

My Steps:
1) Opened Google Chrome and clear cookies.
2) Opened Incognito window
3) Logged in to my united account - no 30k offer banner...
4) Logged out
5) Cleared cookies again
6) Logged in to my fiancés MP account (not MP card, about 20k miles on her MP account)
7) See the 50k offer banner immediately
8) Clicked on the banner, saved the link to the 50k offer page, and clicked apply. I got to the application, but my fiancés info was pre-filled and could not be changed. Below is the link I saved
[Edited by Moderator to preserve privacy]
9) Logged out of my fiancés account and back in to mine. Link FAILED.
10) Logged out, cleared cookies, and logged back in. Link FAILED.
11) At the point of giving up, I decided to remove all the extra crap from the link above and just entered:

https://www.theexplorercard.com/MPYoureIn50kAFW.aspx

SUCCESS!

I actually just got off the phone with the Chase Recon line and they confirmed the offer. I know I have a bunch of failed steps in there, but I wanted to include everything because I really don't know what triggered the link to finally work. Note that I tried using the link in a regular window (not incognito) and it sent me to the 30k offer page automatically.

Anyways hopefully this helps someone out. Good luck ^

Is there a phone number to call to confirm that I will get the bonus?

I churned this maybe about 2 years ago.

I got the postcard with the URL but no phone number.

Is this card worth keeping beyond first year? If yes, why?

So all I did was open Private Browsing on Firefox this morning after reading this post:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22435429-post2876.html

I saw the 50k ad, took a screenshot, applied, and got approved. That's it. Easy peasy. $30k limit. I figure I should get this sooner than later because of the new PQDs at United. My international travel is on partner airlines which don't count towards PQD, and I need to maintain status for next year.

I tried this, too. But the 50K offer simply will not appear for me.

Data points: I had a few old miles in my account. Transferred 1,000 from UR about a week ago. Just had 500 post from e-miles.

Yet when I type in that link (after clearing cookies/logging into MP) I watch as the URL changes the "50K" part to say "30K".

Oh well.

I applied in chase bank for the United MileagePlus on 2/19, received card on 2/28. SM them on 3/3 about seeing some offer for 50k and $50 credit statement after 1st purchase. Receive message back on 3/5:

Dear xxxxxxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting Chase regarding a richer premium
offer for your United MileagePlus® credit card account

We are pleased to inform you that we will honor your
request for the $50.00 statement credit. The credit is a
first use offer, so please contact us after the credit
card account has been used and the transaction has posted
to the account.

I called a number and they couldn't tell me if previous card holders would get the promotional miles. They directed me to call 800-965-9296 and they flat out told me previous card holders won't get the bonus. Didn't even ask about when I had it previously or how long it had been since I got the bonus.

Sent a secure message to see if they would have it in writing.

I went part of the way through the application process and one of the links for terms and conditions listed this phone number:

800-537-7783.

I got the Mileage Explorer card last week, after applying through the 30k bonus link. I sent them a secure message yesterday asking to be upgraded to the 50k bonus and $50 statement credit. Just got a message back:

Thank you for contacting chase regarding your United
MileagePlus® credit card account.

===================
We are pleased to confirm we have added 20,000 enrollment
miles and issued a $50.00 statement as you requested to
match the newer offer. You will see these adjustments on
your next billing statement.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,

By the way, I had a couple Mileage Plus cards from Chase in the past, although not in a few years. From what I've seen, if you get a new type of card -- Explorer, Club, a business card, etc. -- you can get the bonus, even if you had a card in the past.

Yup, that is the consensus backed up by many data points. What I haven't seen confirmed is if you can get a sign-up bonus for Ink Bold (or Ink Plus) twice if you go from MC to Visa.

Secure message response:

Dear xxxx,

Thank you for contacting Chase regarding enrollment miles
for a new United MileagePlus® Explorer credit card
account.

Because you received 50,000 bonus miles for your previous
MileagePlus Explorer card ending in xxxx you would not
receive enrollment miles if you applied for a new
MileagePlus Explorer card.

Thank you for being our customer. We appreciate your
business.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,

You jinxed yourself.

If you spend some time reading the Chase Application thread (Sticky) and may be even in this thread, from late last year - there were several data points that 24 months are needed from the previous application of which you got a bonus, in order to become "eligible" again on a second bonus.

Someone actually got a denial postcard informing him that he was not eligible because he applied his 2nd card with only 16 months lapse. Yet, because he only asked the verification in a very generic form after he ALREADY got his card, and later sent a tactful inquiry as a reply to the initial SM exchange, Chase gave him his 2nd bonus.

Now the way you did it, you got your profile notated that you would not be eligible... That notation would not be there should you not to contact Chase to literally make them to put in there...
