============================================

[/b] 50 + 5k offer for personal card. Requires MileagePlus login; redirects to https://www.theexplorercard.com/50kAFW
  • 50k miles after $3000 spend within first 3 months
  • 5k miles for adding an authorized user
  • No annual fee first year
  • No FTF
  • Each calendar year, you are eligible to receive one 10,000-mile bonus after you reach $25,000 in net purchases on your Card.

For discussion of card benefits, see the master thread in the United forum.
My math says a 50K offer. Where do the extra points come from?
The extra 5000 points come from adding an authorized user after you have been approved for the card.
Is there a business card?
Yes, and Flyertalk has a thread devoted to the business card: United business card: 50k+10k united miles
Can I apply for this card and earn the bonus after doing so previously?
See the wiki and related discussion in Applying for Chase Credit Cards- May 2015-Present

50K offer worked for me today, without needing the wiki link. My banner ad recently jumped back up to 50K (from 30). On the first try clicking on the banner reverted to 30K, but retrying in a fresh browser gave me the 50K offer and processed fine.

Finally got the 50K offer to show up in my account after flying a short haul flight on UA. Getting "fresh" miles via UR or other bonus offers didn't work until I actually flew BIS. I was holding out for this offer because the link in the wiki (which still works, BTW), requires you to check a box that you have not been denied by Chase in the last 6 months. I was denied for an Ink Plus in Aug., so I didn't want to lie. Luckily the 50K link in my account doesn't ask that question.

Offer says 50K/$2K/3 month. Via SM I successfully got them to match $50 statement credit, 5K miles for authorized user, and 10K miles bonus for $25K spend (probably won't reach that one)

I made a last-minute push to hit the "10K miles for $25K spend" bonus on Dec 31. However, although my largest transaction (about $7K) was submitted and processed on Dec 31, I just saw today on the Chase web site that it posted with a date of Jan 1. =( This was despite the fact that it appeared initially as a pending transaction on Dec 31 itself. Does anyone happen to know whether Chase will generally still give the bonus in such circumstances?

I will probably contact their customer support later on, but just wanted to check if anyone here on FT has any advice.

Thanks!

I followed those sets and got the sign up form which populated with my info and United Mileage account # however I don't see anywhere on the page that says anything about (50k) or 60k miles. In fact I don't even see anything about 30k miles, even though I opened the 30k offer before loading the new tab and pasting the link you posted.

1) Clear browser cookies
2) log in to your United Airlines account and click on card offer
3) Once on the 30K offer page, open a new tab within your browser and paste this link:
https://www.theexplorercard.com/UMPC...6P&REFERID=TEC

Note that this link changes the SPID= to DZ9V which provides the 50k offer it also replaces the CELL= to 06P. These are the codes from the original post. I have tried this with my card and it worked. Now using it a second time for my spouse's card.

I would recommend you add one user to your card account, and get the second card. Once you spend $1 on that new card you will get bonus miles I think they are 5k or 10k miles.

Best of luck and happy travels!

Yup, there's nothing actually on the Application Page itself (or T&Cs) that mentions 50K promo miles. It's why users post that they SM the CSRs to confirm (which I did as well).

So it's a little leap of faith you have to take when you apply. Just make sure you follow the instructions posted (with the correct SPID= in the URL) and you should be good.

Would you say I should try to apply for the explorer card and then if I get denied call them up, or should I just call them/msg them and try to see if they will approve me despite the fact that I just got approved for the Chase Sapphire Prefferred and I actually haven't even activated it yet.

Only hitch with the CSP is Chase will often not instantly approve you for a second credit card in a short time frame but if you have good history with them and a high credit score, they would probably approve you after a short conversation.

I have no special information more than what I've learned from reading the threads here, but based on that knowledge, I would personally wait at least ~35 days since my last approval, then simply apply online without asking anyone anything.

However, I don't think there's anything wrong with applying immediately, especially if you're ok with having a conversation with the reconsideration line after you apply.

Personally, I avoid asking permission to apply for an offer that may or may not actually be targeted at me. I'd rather just apply and work out the details later if there are any issues.

I just followed the wiki instructions, and it seems to have worked fine. SPID was DZ9V and Cell was 06P, just as Puggers said. I just hope I can get the card # out of Chase, cuz I want to buy a ticket right now.

followed wiki and worked for me. confirmed through SM about 50,00 + 5,000 miles after $1,000 spending

thanks guys

wiki say spending is $2000 in 3 months, but CS said (through) SM that requirement is $1,000 in 3 months.

"Thank you for contacting Chase regarding your United
MileagePlus® credit card account.

Please be advised that as a first time Explorer cardmember
you are scheduled to receive 50,000 enrollment bonus miles
after you meet a $1,000.00 spend within the first 3 months
of your account open date. You will also receive 5,000
miles for adding an authorized user name to the account
within the same time frame and after your first purchase.

After the first year annual fee waiver the annual fee will
be $95.00.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,

(First time poster - long time lurker here. Thanks for all the great resources everybody's provided.)

I followed the Wiki instructions and would always get the "Try Again" message regardless of clearing cache (and all browsing history, etc) and doing it several times. I would see the banner when I go to united.com but as soon as I log in it would not show it anymore. Perhaps this is because I already have a MileagePlus Explorer Business (existing) and United Club Card (closed).

Anyway, I found a work around by modifying the steps as follows:
1.Clear all cookies/history from your browser - I used Google Chrome in Incognito Mode.
2.On one tab, open United.com (Tab #1) - You should see the 30k offer banner.
3.On a second tab, go to United.com (Tab #2) and log into your United account.
4.Go back to Tab #1 and click the 30k offer banner - which will open a Tab #4
5.Go to Tab #4, copy and paste the the link on the Wiki. Then you'll see the "please wait while we prepare your application" page.

I hope this helps somebody.

As for my application, I had to call the reconsideration line and move credit around. But when the agent submitted the request, she said that I needed to talk to the verification department. It's a Friday night so that department would not be able to help me until Monday. I have a couple of questions I hope you can answer:
1. Do you guys know what the verification department is (accdg to the agent it's just to verify my identity) and how it affects the decision? Assuming I am who I say I am and prove it to them, is application as good as approved?
2. While I wait for Monday to come, can I continue with my AOR (1 more to go)? Essentially, my app-o-rama status is as follows:
* Club Carlson Prem Personal - Instantly Approved
* Club Carlson Prem Business - Pending Credit Review
* US Airways (Card #3, #1 closed, #2 open) - I think approved (if status checker is showing latest application)
* Citi AA Plat Mastercard - Instantly Approved
* Chase MP Explorer Personal - Pending Verification on Monday
* Chase Sapphire Preferred - Not applied yet

Thanks in advance for your advice!

easier method

I found an easier way. I was trying to help my DD with an app. but the 30K banner ad would never appear. So I went ahead and clicked the link here anyway and the correct app appeared on the screen in a new window!! And it was prepopulated with her name!!

Maybe this won't work for others but it worked for her.

You will almost certainly have to call recon for yet another Chase personal card. With the required shuffling of credit to get the United card, I would probably call it a day and save the CSP for later. It's not going anywhere.

I've been sent to the verification dept. twice, both times they asked me a couple simple questions about my employer and when I changed addresses. The verification department is more of an anti-fraud department if they find some issue with your application such as different address than what appears on your credit report etc. Was approved by them both times without having to call again to speak with regular recon.

So they have the power to do an approval, but I don't know what factors go into it and whether I was basically already approved pending the hold.

Longtime reader, first post.

I originally applied for the Explorer card in November. I wanted to get the 30K miles offered. I had (still have) and old Chase United card that is basically worthless. Anyway, I got the Explorer card, met the spend and I'm waiting for my miles to post.

Because of this thread, I sent a message through the SM portal last night asking for the additional 20K miles. Chase gave them to me no questions asked this morning. Thanks to all in this thread and I hope others in the 90 day window of having this card get all their miles!

Thanks for letting me know about your experience. I hope it goes smoothly on Monday. Wish they were open weekends, though.
