From reading myfico.com and creditcardforum.com forums, it looks like they won't allow it anymore. I even heard product changing from one hotel card to another won't be allowed (i.e. Hyatt to Marriott), however I have had inconsistent answer responses from this.

I know co-branded product changes aren't allowed, and that's understandable, but it would be good business sense to let me keep my account open if I don't want a UA card anymore when the AF comes up...

@JaysonW, thanks for the info, and no problem. Chase's Tweet response was quick! Oh yeah, no CSP sign up bonus, right?

That was the easiest phone call I have ever had to make to Chase. Called yesterday afternoon, told the guy my Explorer card was 12 months, 4 days old and that I'd like to upgrade to the Club Card. He said no problem and since I had just paid the Explorer's AF of $95, they would reduce the Club Card AF by that same amount. The rep said we could keep using our current cards for up to 60 days, but the Club Card(s) would arrive in 3-5 business days (account number would not change, but the expiration date may). Chase already has my MP account number linked to the current card, so there was nothing else needed.

The call honestly took less than 5 minutes.

Did you inquire whether there would be a credit pull?

JaysonW Jul 9, 2013 12:00 pm

No, I did not. According to SuperKirby's post (#65) Chase said no pull would be done.

That is great to hear!

Wow, that was super-fast. The cards arrived via UPS yesterday. I didn't have to sign for them either, UPS just left them at my porch. Nice presentation, but completely unnecessary with large book about the IGH hotels and program information. Oh well, I guess it does the job of making you feel like your getting your AF's worth.

The best $49 you'll ever spend!

Stiga9 Jul 12, 2013 9:16 pm

Gosh, every time I call to try to change my Slate to something else (Freedom), they say they can't do it right now and "please try again every 1-2 months". So annoying! They tell me it's a random thing. How odd. Anyone know why? I doubt it's due to my credit - but FWIW I have good credit, no derogs or baddies. AAoA 6.0 years, FAKO 700. Also, it's not an ex-WaMu card. I applied for a Slate 8 years ago when I needed my first credit card.

They keep trying to convince me to apply for a new card, which I refuse to because i'm about to buy a house sometime in the near future.

Lol, I think there is some confusion here. @JaysonW, I think you meant to say LHR (Luxury Hotels & Resorts) which lead to @vodkashine thinking you got the IHG card ($49 AF).

Oh and too bad I didn't know where you live when your card arrived ;)

No issues here converting a 2+ year old CSP to a Freedom MC product via SM.

I decided to switch my CSP spend to a mix of the United Club Card and Citi Prestige.

If a CSP MC reappears in the wild, I will consider it!

You may have to look deep in the jungle. According to a poster somewhere on FT (CSP MC thread), Chase is working tightly with Visa to make the two exclusive.

Chase and Visa or the CSP and Visa?

Anyone confirm downgrading (product change) an Ink Plus to Ink Cash/Classic is doable?
