[Ongoing offers] Now 80K points, free night, AF not waived, Marriott Premier Visa

Well, I applied and got a pending from Chase last week. Yesterday I received an e-mail from Marriott with the free 1 night cert and see that my elite level is now Silver. I'm assuming this is good news? I have always gotten instant approvals in the past and this is my first pending, so I was surprised to see I would find out from Marriott first before Chase. I'm hoping this means its an actual approval though. I'll wait and see.

I am confused about someone saying order the e-cert? What for it shows up on your account.

If you have received such e-Cert in past 5 years, you would not get another one. Otherwise, Marriott would issue you an e-Cert which would show up in your Marriott account under Unused Certs.

Has anyone been successful in calling Marriott and asking for the upon approval cat 1-4 cert if one has received one within the past 5 years?

This card comes with 1 free night up to Cat 4, the free night is in the form of a e-Cert which you do not order, but it is dropped in your account by Marriott.
If you have received such e-Cert in past 5 years, you would not get another one. Otherwise, Marriott would issue you an e-Cert which would show up in your Marriott account under Unused Certs.

BTW I don't understand why the 1-5 Cat you get every year on your anniversary is only good for 6 months. Wish they gave you a year.
Anyway this was my first reward card I got back in Nov 2011. (Well first since finding about all of this. I did have a CO Credit Card before that with out knowing how useful miles/points can be. Got only 35K when I am sure better offers was available had I known about flyertalk.) Anyway I LOVE this card, and I will be keeping it. Comes with a free night so the annual fee is not a big deal. Now if I can get the Ritz 70K offer at some point to pair with the Marriott 70K + I already have that would be great.

I called Chase today, and they were happy to switch me from the 50k offer to the 70k.

received the 1-5 certificate today prior to the annual fee posting. Anyone have experience redeeming the cert after canceling the card? We have 4 cards in the family, keeping two for the cert and canceling two.

I have done it. As long as the cert is in your Marriott account, u are fine.
