Strange, every time I search (and actually get the servers to respond) I keep getting "No award availability" with those exact settings. Any way to figure out why that might be? I have been successful ingesting the BA search to show availability for other flights (e.g. next day HKG-BKK flights), so I dont think it's my BAEC login.

Here is what I get:
[KVS Availability Tool 6.2.0.R1/Diamond - Amadeus: Awards/BA-OneWorld]
Code:
SFO San Francisco Intl CA US [KSFO]
HKG Hong Kong Intl HK [VHHH]
MON  02 Jan 2012 | 2 Seats

                                                            No Award Availability
Edit: Just called again and was told nothing was available in business or first. When I search BA's web site directly I also get no award availability. The only thing on the west coast they could find me was 2 F tickets with the trans-pacific flight from YVR-HKG #889 on 1/1. Searching YVR-HKG on OneWorld and BA give me no availability, while CX gives me "FS/".

Right now, for SFO-HKG CX 873
* Awards/BA-OneWorld (1F or 2F) --> No Award Availability
* Awards/CX (1F) --> FS+
* Awards/CX (2F) --> FS/
* Awards/OneWorld (1F or 2F) --> FS+
* Awards/OneWorld (3F) --> No Award Availability
* AsiaMiles --> Available for 1 seat, not for 2
* BA.com --> Not available for 1 or 2 seats

I'm really puzzled why your BA search is turning up different results than mine...

The results you are getting from BA.com are puzzling, indeed:

Well, at least now I know it's just an issue with BA. I still don't know whether my results are right or yours are right -- another call to AA was unsuccessful (though I haven't tried asking AA to call CX). I've posted over in the BAEC forum to see if it's a known issue with certain types of accounts or something.

I figured I'd try JAL and also get no availability for that flight.

Lately KVS hasn't been all that reliable. On multiple flights it shows 2 seats in F available and I call BA. Depending on the time, the hold can be up to an hour and then the agent tells me only 1 seat or none is available.

Which of the 3 Methods in the KVS Tool that support CX Award Availability were you using?

I found OneWorld to be the least reliable/correlative with AA availability. CX often showed availability that wasn't there (discussed before to presumably indicate seats protected for their members). BA was fairly accurate although at times it would report nothing, possibly due to the web site being so bad. I usually confirmed a couple times in a row.

JAL actually had very consistently accurate availability data, typically correlating with CX. Wonder if that is a possibility in the future for KVS?

The future is here -- the JLMB engine is being introduced as a 4th option for CX Award Availability in the KVS Tool:
http://Help.KVSTool.com/#AwardUpgradeClasses_OneWorld

Interested Diamond-tier KVS Tool members are invited to RSVP for this Beta using the link at http://www.KVSTool.com/

Awesome -- JL has proven to be by far the most accurate source for ticket availability in my experience. I have been checking the JL site daily but do find the occasional error/busy message annoying. Would still be nice if there was some way to search JL over a range of dates as this is not possible with either the JL site or KVS, I presume.

Indeed, CX is notorious for its system issues when it comes to Award Availability. While CX Award Availability is supported via 4 different engines in the KVS Tool, the data from the recently introduced [Awards/JL-OneWorld] Method is the most authoritative and will match the current Availability that OneWorld partner agents are seeing.

I have found a problem with this method, unless I am missing something. JL's own website can return multiple pages of available flights, which you have to click through. KVS only returns the first page with the earliest flights, making it look as if there is much less availability than there actually is.

Could you please provide a sample route/date?

Search any day on a flight with lots of options, like PVG-HKG.

Thanks. We will be adding a [Time] option in the next KVS Tool release.

A departure [Time] input option has now been added to the [Awards/JL-OneWorld] Method in the KVS Tool V6.9.4:
