I can confirm, with multiple experiences, that CX comps GO in certain circumstances. The three personal cases I know are a.) UA 1K, b.) AA EXP and c.) an absolute nothing, with almost no flying record ;). None of them were comped DM, so congrats to you ACCORD. In one case the pax had accumulated his EXP status almost exclusively from flying CX, but the other two definitely not.

aa767flyer, did you ever get your CX status match?

I just got my status match from QPPS to MPC Silver.. As usual, the policy didn't change.. This was done via email.

Not true. Outstation marketing managers have been known to comp up to Diamond for key people in major corporate accounts. I know this for sure - as this happened to me in 2006. It worked, I've maintained DM level ever since.

CX has been known to solicit SQ PPS Solitaire members enticing them with DIAM status. Other elite FFPs including UA Global Services need not apply.

Your future travelling schedule on Cathay Pacific/Dragonair with booking reference / confirmed flight details (if applicable) Send it to theclub -at- cathaypacific.com and you'll probably get a response in 3-7 days offering you Silver. |
Sent in the copy of my BR SL and CI GO membership card, past 12-month flight history with both, and upcoming CX reservation on paid D to the club email. Got a reply in three business days to welcome me and offer me MPC SL. And they gave me a 14 days window to accept the offer.
I wrote back to try to see if they can postpone the start of my SL membership for a month because my actual travel won't be starting in two months. They politely declined and reiterated the deadline for my acceptance of the offer. So I wrote back again and took the offer, and received the confirmation email of my SL status the next day. Pretty standard and straightforward. |
MPC Silver Comp
Hi all,
My son has been a fairly frequent traveler on CX, accumulating some 30-50k miles per year on average. He typically makes 2-3 SE Asia-US round trips per year (he studies there), along with various other short-hauls, all in Y. He recently turned 18 and is now eligible for MPC membership, and I was wondering whether CX would comp him SL membership, based on his yearly flying patterns? Should I/he call/e-mail MPC to ask for the comp? Or should I just fork out the $50 for the GR membership and wait till next year for SL? It would be best if he could get comped the SL membership now, since most of his flying is in Y--the benefits would be of great use for him. Thanks. |
Usually CX will only comp if you already have a matching status elsewhere. This is an interesting case, however, and it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Write to [email protected] with your request and ask. If you give them the Asiamiles number, they can look up the records and might just decide to upgrade immediately. I signed up for MPC before I was 18, back then, nobody checked :) |

My gf and coworker just recently got comp SL without even asking and they didn't even fly much - my gf only flew LAX-HKG-TPE twice and my coworker only did LAX-HKG (which isn't even 30k miles), both in Y only.

Good news--my son just got an email back saying that he was comped Silver, based on his "travel history and future reservations with CX". ^

Quick report.
Got my status matched today to a MPC Silver from a UA Premier Executive (Mid-tier/*G). So I got a $100 ticket from ORD to HKG with a elite status :D |
