Will Caviar be Served on CX879?
Sorry if this is a dumb question. I will be flying CX879 in First Class from SFO to HKG with a 12:05pm departure in December as part of my AONE3 trip. Would like to ask if Caviar will be served or not for this daytime departure? If so, will I get it for the 1st meal, 2nd meal, or both? Will it be pre-plated or served in front of you with a trolley? Reason for my question is that I have heard there are 1 or 2 longhaul CX sectors that do not serve caviar, thus I am rather curious.
Also is the trick for a day flight like this is to sleep very little or no sleep at all since it will be arriving into HKG at night?

See Post #2. Scroll to bottom of page.
All CX long haul F class flights have cavair with the exceptions mentioned above.

Again I stated in my original post that I apologized for the dumb question, but nonetheless I though it was still valid enough to be posted for my 1st ever travel with CX. For your information I did do a search and couldn't come up with an answer.
Nonetheless I thank you for your response; however next time I have a question regarding CX travel, I'd be more than happy to post them somewhere else because it turned out to be a waste of my time to post and get a response in a rather cold & unwelcoming tone.

I stated I "searched" on my 2nd post of this thread and came up with no answer didn't I?
Or is it your objective to criticise someone's lack of knowledge? Or is it your perception of what is common knowledge easily found in the search method has to be applicable to everyone else?
If you don't want people to post threads with such questions, it would be helpful of you yourself to compile a list of FAQs of what you deem as FAQs from your own knowledge and post it on top of this board instead of assuming everyone knows and have heard of cathaytalk.

The search function on FT is Shi7e but I can understand GB's fustration whereby we are getting like 10 million same questions on new J/F/Catering/Menu etc... and also the same people keep on complaining about the new J Class etc...

The search function is two tiered.
The basic doesn't really work very well for several words, so you have to go under the advanced search function when under the main forum for that particular airline or subject. ie Cathay Pacific or Trip Reports.
When you do an Advance search, you put in the words: caviar, First Class under search by Key Word. Leave the Search by User Name blank.
Under Search in Forum, the forum you are in will have a tick next to it and is highlighted. The box below will say Also search in child forums. You have the option to untick that if you don't want to do a back search to several years!
You may also Ctrl+another forum if you want more topics. ie Trip Report.
But just typing those two words in alone, ie caviar, First Class will yield over 87 different threads on the topics.
You could have also looked at the CX First Menus which is a sticky at the top of the forum to give you an idea of what is being served.
I apologise if my response to the OP may have sounded harsh initially, but your question is one of many many repetitive questions we get over and over again, and it honestly would have been easier if people try to do a search first. Chances are that you will find what you're looking for in all our historical threads.

As for the caviar and salmon bring served at your seat...it is 50/50. it depends on the crew. I have seen individual and 'group' service. The caviar and salmon service will only be offered once during the flight..unless you specifically ask for this service. As far as sleeping...plan for your destination...if you want to sleep when you arrive--don't sleep on the plane and enjoy everything. If you want to arrive and be alert..do sleep on the plane have a great time on your arrival...CX will do everything they can to accomodate your wishes! Enjoy your travels!

Hello,
Sorry for your troubles in getting a simple question answered.
You should be getting the caviar service on your flight, I would guess close to 99.9 percent chance. I cannot imagine why they would not have it.
I have never flown Cathay in F from the states and NOT seen the trolly out for this service. They have always done the trolley and it is very nice. This is in probably 20 F flights from the US.
It is part of the first meal service (lunch, dinner). They really don't have a second service until the end of the flight (often breakfast). There is a snacks menu for use between the first and second meals. If you really want something from the first (or second) meal in the middle of the flight, they will usually do it for you too.
Just ask. They are very obliging.
You CAN get a second caviar serving later in the flight. My wife always asks for it and gets it for breakfast (!), along with her eggs! They serve it on its own plate, with crackers and the same little sides. You can also get the salmon with your eggs for breakfast.
I really think it depends on whether or not they have enough "left over" from the trolley service.
Enjoy!
