When KA enters OW, they should transform the current KA lounge into another Wing-like lounge... Now, can somebody please come up with a more innovative labelling than "The Left Wing" and "The Right Wing" before CX comes up with some equally worse!

The lounge is not big enough to create a first class side, but it is a nice lounge.

When I fly KA from HKG, would I prefer the KA lounge or the WIng/Pier? I would definitely go to the Wing/Pier. The KA lounge is very good indeed, but not when compare with the CX lounges. There were discussions that DM can use the CX F lounge, but I have not done that yet, because I thought the official policy is CX J lounge only when a DM is flying KA until KA is part of OW.
However, when KA joins OW, will all normal KA lounge users go to the CX lounges? The current CX J lounges are sometimes quite crowded. It may not affect me very much, but is still a concern (I still sometimes take MU or CA). Upgrading the KA lounge is a good idea, even though there is not enough space for both F and J lounges.

in fact...I understand the CX F lounge esp the Haven is quite a bit better than the KA lounge...but, just wondering, for J / Gold / Silver / Sapphire pax, is the CX J lounge really that much better than the KA lounge ?
maybe it's just my personal opinion...but I think the KA lounge isn't bad at all when compared to the CX J lounge, noodle bar (with even better noodles I think), decent food/drink selection, quite comfortable seating, Internet stations, working cube areas, etc...so what is it that many people think are much better in CX J lounge vs. KA lounge ? I personally really don't have any preference between these two, I'd really just pick because of my gate location for the flight...

Dragonair Lounge doesn't sound bad in my opinion. Certainly better than many lounges in the oneworld network.
Dragonair Lounge, Hong Kong
Welcome to Dragonairs flagship lounge at the Hong Kong International Airport. Located at Level 7 of Passenger Terminal Building, Northern Concourse, the Dragonair lounge provides First Class and Business Class passengers, as well as members of The Marco Polo Club travelling on flights operated by Dragonair with an ideal space to relax prior to departure.
The contemporary dcor and spacious area creates a calming and serene space, providing a peaceful haven away from the busy airport. You can also enjoy a wide variety of foods, including Hong Kong culinary favourites like wonton noodles and fishball noodles, prepared by our on-site chef from 7am to 6pm. Beverages offered throughout the day include soft drinks, juices, mineral water, beer, spirits, wine, coffee and tea.
Lounge Facilities
Business desks with broadband connectivity
Computers with internet access
Baggage storage area
International and local phones
Fax
Flight information monitors
Self service refreshments
A variety of newspaper and magazines
Wheelchair access
TV
The lounge is open daily from 6am to 11:59pm.
Since the majority of KA flights are to China, maybe the Dragonair lounge can be designated as a "China Lounge" so to speak, similar to how all the other members have Domestic lounges at their airports.
Regarding Dragonair future, will they stop flights to Tokyo and Taipei when officially part of oneworld? And in reverse, will Cathay stop Beijing, Shanghai and Xiamen flights?
Also, OT though, with KA how come one two-class 330 has 30 seats in Business, while the other has 42. Both have similar amounts of seats in Economy (270ish)

the one with 30 J seats is 33L (the J seats are the "shell type", angled lie-flat, much better pitch)
the one with 42 J is 33A/R (33A if no F, 33R is has F; the more "usual" J seats)

KA lounge is indeed very good. I like the noodle bar in both KA and CX lounges.
KA lounge has only four internet stations. I tried use PCCW WiFi but it does not work too well for me. The Cathay WiFi seems to work better. Also I would normally do some work in the lounge. CX lounge has a lot of desks that I can use.
As far as just relaxing and having a snack or a meal, there is actually little difference between the lounges. I prefer CX because of work.

CX and KA are getting closer by the day.
* When I was on a combined CX-KA itinerary in Jan, it could only be issued on a paper ticket (in my case). When I was on a similar one in Mar, it was in e-ticket.
* Somehow the PNRs are different between the CA and KA flights. The KA flights did not show up in my MPC account, but I called MPC to fix it.
* In the Mar trip, I was supposed to return from Shanghai on KA899 (if my memory was correct) at 12:25pm according to my ticket. After my itinerary was fixed in my account, it became CX367 (again if I remembered correctly) at the same departure time, with the same seat assignment. I was so confused I had to call MPC, and was confirmed that it would be CX367. I think this will continue to happen over the next few years. Eventually KA will fade away.

I flew this weekend on a KA flight (CX codeshare) and as MPC Silver (was flying in econ). As the gate to the flight was closest to the Wing, I proceeded there. Had no problems using the the Wing (as opposed to the KA lounge).

. No guests in any case I assume.
