Confirming from waitlist - notes to guide your TA!
From cxagents.com for the benefit of people using TAs to book CX flights who may not be familiar with the procedures, you can print this out and advise them on how most effectively to chase for confirmation:
Code:
Chasing Seat Confirmation for Waitlisted Bookings on Cathay Pacific (CX) and Dragonair (KA) Flights To expedite the process of chasing seat confirmation for waitlisted bookings on both CX and KA flights, we are pleased to inform you that with effect from 01 January 2007, all waitlist promotion requests before 1 day of departure should be sent through SSR queue function in GDS. This function would replace the existing channels of phone, fax and e-mail. You may refer to the following for the standard entries in different GDS, we would appreciate if you could follow the recommended format to ensure a smooth handling. NOTE : Above information pertains ONLY to TAs in Asia/Pacific region. It does NOT APPLY to North American (ie Canada, US) or EUROPEAN agencies who have their own protocol to follow.
Currently Asia/Pacific TAs use all formats to try and get waitlists cleared - namely phone, fax, email, bribes even... and CX is trying to curtail all that in favour of doing everything on CRS. Though of course, the ones who do know where to get 'special' favours, would not need to follow protocol.
Having Oneworld elite status on your booking increases your waitlist chances. Though sometimes we still do need the extra help a TA can do.
Above does not pertain to award bookings!
