This is true! Although as NH and KE only have 3 777-300, I didn't consider either carrier to be a 'substantial' operator like CX which has 17 still in service.

Speaking of the devil https://simpleflying.com/non-er-boei...leet-analysis/ (just dropped today)
OTOH do you want CX to fly a crap plane or to fly no plane? It's not like they're not trying to buy new planes (777-9 comes to mind).

Have any retirement dates been set for these aircraft? Half a dozen of them are over 25 years old.

Aria conversion doesn't mean they can't fly regional routes. They already do (to a certain extent), and will continue to do so.
By the time 777x are fully delivered, I wouldn't be surprised if aria is considered outdated and only fit for regional deployments (similar to A330s, where they used to do long haul flights and now they only do short haul, with the longest flight being Cairns)

Wait till you guys fly AF on their leisure routes on the COI configuration : 14J 28 W (fixed shell) and 430 Y.
Lovely for the 12h domestic flight between Paris and the Indian Ocean destinations like RUN and MRU.
To be fair, the competition is similar as BF (French bee) does 10-across on their A35K.

Experienced this short haul workhorse today.
No direct aisle access and the dreaded middle seat. There was a poor lady who had to endure a guy climbing over her some 7 times in the course of 3.5 hours. Hard not to notice because he always ran to the toilet.
Recliner was okay for a short nap. Not sure how it will be for a red eye.
IFE was responsive and there was USB-C charging though I only had a USB-A cable. Oops.
It was a fair compromise for a one stop flight that cost less than half the SQ fare for a non stop flight.

My partner was on 28-year-old B-HNE on a 4.5 hour red eye CGK HKG last week. Apparently the one-third of the passengers who wanted the supper service kepts everyone else awake, mainly because of the 2-3-2 configuration.

Flying GA in J on this route is actually way more comfortable (and wallet friendly too) - both on the 737 and if you are lucky, the long haul 330.

I have not read so much uninformed nonsense on any thread for years.
New aircraft orders were placed from as far back 2013 and remain undelivered.
With new WB aircraft deliveries slower than at any previous time CX (and along with many other major airlines) has little option but to keep the old frames flying while initiating major refurbishment programs that will fit new cabins to most 777-300 and 330s.
What do critics here suggest is a better solution.

You mean they DARE put a non long haul 777 on CX796 ? With the exorbitant fares they charge for those flying just HKG to/from CGK, no wonder this is an airline we have come to despise.
