77P super dense

Experienced this short haul workhorse today.

No direct aisle access and the dreaded middle seat. There was a poor lady who had to endure a guy climbing over her some 7 times in the course of 3.5 hours. Hard not to notice because he always ran to the toilet.

Recliner was okay for a short nap. Not sure how it will be for a red eye.

IFE was responsive and there was USB-C charging though I only had a USB-A cable. Oops.

It was a fair compromise for a one stop flight that cost less than half the SQ fare for a non stop flight.

That's the aircraft I said I'll make paper funerary offerings of and burn for people I don't like.

Agree with your post title, literally "77P super stupid" :D

P in Canto is party or even an orgy, the latter of which is the feeling I get whenever I get a broad-shouldered seat neighbour on them.

In its defence, it's not as knee-capping as the 32Q.

The 77P is the only aircraft that enables Cathay to complete against LCCs with full service.

It was incredible the number of people boarding. And there didn't seem to be enough toilets. The entire front cabin only had 1 toilet

There are two lavs for the 77P J cabin, one front-left, the other rear-right. On the right side aisle, there is a lav status light/sign at the back of the cabin.

Thanks! I was on the left aisle and there didn't seem to be an easy way to get to the right aisle because you had to pass through the galley both ways.

They should just stop selling the middle seat, and then it becomes somewhat bearable.

From an avgeek perspective, CX is the last substantial operator of the 777-300. CX was also the launch customer back 1998. If you find yourself on B-HNE, it was Boeing"s prototype 777-300.

This plane and the super old a330 is why i moved my flights to another carrier until CX retires these lame planes.
Cant believe CX still using these planes in 2026.

Even MH and MU run better planes than these.

Can't say about MU but MH 78/79 737-800s aren't much newer.

They will be refurbished in 2026, and in any case new A330neo's are coming in 2-3 years I believe.

I don't think CX will retire them until they really have to, super useful from CX perspective when they need to clear the backlog after typhoon or other disruption or during peak travel season.

Also ANA, which flies 773s domestically in Japan with 514 seats! :D
