For sure that A333 with 39C is a placeholder and while it could still be a regional 773, I would say based on the history of that flight, an A333 is more likely. Also if you look at the past couple of days:
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d87dc3ee1e.jpg the flight was operated with a regional A333 with 24C on 10 flights, with a regional A333 with 42C on 3 flights and with a longhaul A333 with 39C on 1 flight, so that gives an idea of what you are likely going to end up with. Sorry, I am looking at CX566 now. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a5f42e35af.png |
We are getting close to the 1 month mark from the start of winter schedule. Aside from selected routes that guarantee a Long Haul product (eg. 548/549), we still have yet to see a confirmed aircraft type and even time.
Great job CX for driving some loyal customers away. This is simply beyond ridiculous. |

Sorry, I would not be asking about this if it is the 777-300 as from the get-go CX is pretty clear about how they distinguish between their regional (773 or 77P) and long-haul (77W) variants in the booking page. Their A330 is a different story.
Is CX relatively shifty about aircrafts it uses on regional flights (e.g. one day it’s a long-haul A330, the next it could be an A35K or a 773 or 77W) as compared to the likes of SIA? The thing about SIA is that aircraft configuration swaps are very rare and you can rely on the aircraft displayed far ahead to be the aircraft to be used on the day you’ll fly. Too bad SIN is quite out of my way to use as a transit point for my intended final destination. That said, a morning A35K might be available except that I face an overnight stopover (I don’t want to disturb my sibling who lives there just for an actual late night arrival at his residence and a pre-dawn departure from there). |
CX seems to have
I guess it’s the start of the long-awaited update, but I expected more to come. |
I was hoping for them to put a flat seat on their second A330 to DPS, alas still showing the cradle seat for end of November early December, surprising they put this product on a long regional flight
|
I didn't find an email about the changes but the times of some of my flights were indeed updated. I have also checked the A330 flights to DPS (return) at around the same dates as I was departing for my own destination and it was indeed showing a regionally-configured A330 for one of those flights.

My flights (early Nov) for MNL-HKG is still a placeholder. Probably one of least priority to get confirmed aircraft assignment. 😬

Looks like the SFO - HKG on CX873 got finalized(?) to a 77K. Was hoping it to be a A350-900 but I'm guessing that tends to happen more for the spring scheduling.

Was your aircraft changed from something else or was it a 77W from the moment you booked?

A weird thing though is that some A330 flights involving BKK and SIN are offering a regionally-configured aircraft. And yet 90% of the rest of CX’s regional flights are showing long-haul C-configured A330s, even to places like TPE and HKT.
Are those BKK and SIN flights that show a regional A330 under a ”placeholder” situation? |
It seems that most aircraft type for Winter 2025 are locked up. Some surprises eg. 32Q to KIX (previously known) and 77P in place of 32Q on evening PVG route (CX302).
The notorious 566 redeye flight is now back to a flat-bed 333. |
