reporting back. as expected for my cx549 'E" inventory came up after waiting for 2 days.
Instead of calling CX I tried to just go "change my flight" online, and to my surprise if you select the SAME DAY SAME FLIGHT under "change flight", it gives option to rebook to "E" class without any change penalty. What's better I got some Tax Refund :D And it gets better - my e-ticket was reissued, so I have 1 year from reissue day (today) instead of 5 days ago to use the ticket. I have a feeling if I called CX they will demand the change fee ($2k HKD?) so I am glad their online system is such a garbage that you can exploit the system. |

That's great to hear, and I hope this is something that they don't change in the future... It's good and only fair for the passengers to receive what they paid for. |
We are now about 10 weeks away from the start of the NW25/26 and still it is not clear what aircraft will be operating which flights. I am interested in Phnom Penh. Bangkok and Manila. At the present Cathay shows A330s for all flights to these destinations which I am sure are placeholders. I refuse to fly on an A321 and these have been assigned to some of the flights to these destinations in the past. I wish to avoid the hassle and potential cost of having to make any change. Cathay's performance in this regard is really pathetic. It must have known for many months what its fleet would consist of. Can anyone say when Cathay will be able to say what its base plan for this period is?

Yea i moved some of my flights to another airline just cause CX still showing 330 placeholder.
current month and next, the planes used are 321/777/330 Refuse to pay premium prices for "330" seats and end up with 321/777 seats |
I am just shocked at how Cathay is run. How does the management get away with it? This is certainly not 5 stars airlines quality, considering that it’s almost 18 months post Covid reopening!

so many countries north of singapore. At this point, i trust Malaysian air more than CX. at least MH has nice lieflat seats on their regional routes CX has a strange inability to finalize their schedules... |

i think another trend is that like 90% of people dont even realize what aircraft theyre flying, they just book on the flight that has the best timings or price, and they wouldnt notice the difference between products, so CX could still have 85%+ load factors to this day.
still it is rather lame and lousy CX is always the last one, though it seems like they are updating it now. CX regional defeintily is rather outdated (but at least there is entertainment) compared to long distance, considering the increased long haul frequencies, and now there is a 90% chance for B773,A333 or A21N. hope the refresh next year is good. but MH doesnt even have entertainment in their 737 business class, easily one of the worst regional products in asia... |

The lie flat seats are coming... and this may be the first time I've ever seen anyone compared MH favorably to CX.
Would be nice if there is. For the same price, i can get a lieflat on MH or a PE style seat on CX with old IFE. Heck, might even get a CX 321 narrowbody too. its a no brainer , for me at least. malaysian food is yummy too Due to CX not confirming their regional planes in advance and using old planes, ive moved my flights to other airlines. Hope CX will fix these issues though |
Aircraft type is one thing (Yea I know even on economy I still have a preference on 333 over 77P), but another thing is the actual timing.
While it may be a difference of 5min to 1hr, it can matter to people who are on business travels, as meetings don’t wait, or need to arrive/leave work on certain time. I am deferring any bookings in November until the final timetable is set. This is as annoying as it can get. |
