When CX seriously needs revenues from new sources, this will be possible.
It is actually easier to get DM than Centurion.
Centurion is still a by-invitation only card. DM is a status you can earn as soon as you can go that far.

Not really; there are ways to get it without an invitation.

Guess CX should already knows that those comp DM didn't fly CX much... Many of them fly other airlines and use the F lounges (yes now they can't even I know)... Nor they bring in much revenue to CX per se as they can fly other OW airlines

If someone has enough money to have the Centurion card, wouldn't they be flying F anyways?
I mean, sure you could be raking in US$1MM a year and flying J (or even Y
) , but ......
While the eligibility criteria are subject to speculation, most reliable sources agree that Centurion Card holders have historically spent US$250,000 or more per year on lower-level American Express cards, and have annual household incomes of around US$1.3 million and net worths of at least US$16 million.

Of course there are always ways to get one without an invitation. However, AMEX still holds the discretionary authority to issue a card or not.
On the other hand, as soon as you have never blacklisted by CX, you fly enough to reach DM, the DM status is yours.
So, it still stands - Centurion > DM.
The promotion at that time was poorly constructed. So I would agree with the end result.
But if the promotion is more focused or targeted, I would say CX could achieve a better result.
What she meant was a prior DM benefit that you could use CX F lounge regardless of the airline traveled. This benefit is now gone and F lounge access for DM is restricted for CX/KA or OW partner flights only.

So, it still stands - Centurion > DM.

You can have b/millions in the bank and you can easily get an invite, normally the primary basis is net worth + credit score. and of course the annual fee. For spend, you can spend it on anything if you wish, even on CX.com if you want, where as for CX, to get DM status you need to fly CX or OW partners and definitely have to spend more than the Centurion annual fees get 1200 club points.
CX can't ban you from upgrading from GO to DM as soon as you qualify. But AMEX can choose not to invite you for Centurion, even you have a Platinum Card for years and excellent of everything.
My point is even you can manufacture for a Centurion invitation, AMEX still holds all the cards, unlike CX.
