Can you ask what CX was thinking with seats 11D/G on A359 and...presumably...A351 too?

Mate, of the airlines I fly regularly in premium classes (JL, QR, CX, EK, SQ, BR), no competitor has such poor seats. They really are a disgrace. For most flights CX leaves them empty and fills them with ID pax. But once in a while cash pax are stuck with them and then CX hopes they don't complain.
The way they're designed means if you're using the bathroom, you often step into the actual real estate of the person's seat. And the curtain position means it also goes in too. And the bathroom is right behind the curtain. If the person doesn't have the aisle guard up or has their feet positioned to the left (D) or right (G), the curtain and/or people going to the bathroom will come into contact with them. They'd be just fine seats if you got upgraded for free to J. But for people who fork over cash for CX fares, I can't see how CX does it.
I'm referring to the A359. But seat maps indicate CX plowed ahead and furnished the same crap design on A351. I was on A359 longhaul two weeks ago, for example. At one point a queue had developed whereby the front person was standing in the 11D real estate. They were ID pax so basically they had to suck it up as is CX's culture, but it's not good.
The delivery flight will not be crowded I assume and fun and games. But try to imagine it if someone is there in that seat and do a few trial runs, especially with the curtain closed.

i shall ask but first, is there sufficient room on the A350-900 to have those seats relocated to a better position - or are you suggesting that both seats should simply have been dropped from the config?

I expect business class to be full, and delivery flights aren’t always ‘fun and games’ - for many of us they’re work, for some of us solid work - but I’ll look into those seats and if the opportunity arises and CX is willing to go on the record, will put the question to them in a suitably tactful way

I sit in 12K often on the 359 and I never see anyone sitting in 11D/G. Another bad thing about 11G in particular, there is a storage closet, mostly used for bottled water, right next to the seat before the lavatory curtain, Crew are constantly using that closet during the flight and will be leaning over with their rear end practically in your seat. It's also a minor annoyance if in 12K, but doesn't really bother me. Another reason why the 359 is just a little too small that they need a crew storage closet in the passenger cabin. Not enough room in the galleys for everything they need for an LH flight.

This would be a very good indicator of how fast the 351 will get noticeable wear and tear....

I just got off an A359 in J last night in EWR. My seat had lots of problems. The seat panel with the button that pops up the seat extender was not on properly and only connected by the button wire. probably because the seat seemed misaligned. When starting recline the gears would slip. I had to push back the seat a bit to get it aligned properly to recline. Same thing going back to seating position as it took a little bit of coaxing. Told the ISM and he said he'd submit some paperwork to engineering. I wasn't inconvenienced enough to request a new seat as only window seat left was the last row of J in the mini cabin.
Never had an issue with the J seat on the 773.
