i don't have the answer, but if you have time, what you might want to try is to borrow from them a laptop computer, which is already installed with a wireless LAN card and configured accordingly...you might then be able to figure out the settings needed...

You'll need to ask at the desk. They're using 40bit encryption and occasionally change the encryption key. They'll have to hunt around to find it, but all the information you need will be at hand at the bottom of some drawer.

I remember asking to borrow a laptop with a wireless LAN card at the Wing.
When I tried to access webpages that are not a part of the cathaypacific.com domain, it would send me to a website that asks me to "sign up" for a "2 hour" internet account for HKD 40.
After you sign up, you get a userID and password to access other websites.

Well thanks for the help, I am now on their wireless service, you were right about having to search a little but after making a copy of the settings for me getting it running is pretty simple AND FAST!

Go to the desk and ask for the current WEP codes, these are 40bit (5 digit) codes that you have to enter into the Wireless Client manager or WindowsXP wireless settings. After that you can go online right away. By using DHCP all the other network settings are loaded automatically so you don't need to do anything else.

I used my laptop in the First Class area of the Wing this Feb/March. They were not using any security key then; the name of the network, if I remember correctly was "cathay". I was able to use it in the cabana
, though the signal was not very strong.
