Checkin for US Flight

When I try to do OLCI for CX880 to LAX, the system shows

'We're sorry, there has been an error in capturing your travel information. Please start the check in process again and if the problem persists, proceed to the airport where our staff will be happy to check you in.'

Does anyone come across this before? How can I solve it? Thanks!

My guess is it has something to do with entry requirements/US APIS (Advance Passenger Information System). The only way to solve it is to check-in at the airport unfortunately.

It happened to me 3 weeks ago also. I did everything I could, updated the travel document informations to no avail. After showed up and physically checked in at a counter, I was able to download a mobile boarding pass then. Weird enough.

I had that many times before, especially when I did OLCI including transit with two different travel documents or when I did OLCI from PEK to HKG.

Why is checking in at the airport (or AEX station) unfortunate?

I think it has to do with travel doc names not matching properly.

Recently I tried to OLCI at T-48 with my middle name missing from APIS and got that error.

I tried again at T-22 and added my middle name to the APIS information on the OLCI and then checkin worked.

So not sure if it's related to the middle name or checking in at T-48 or less than T-24...

Happens all the time with CX, 80% of the time i run into the issue during the part where you need to key in your passport/visa details. No issues at the counter.

The other 20% when OLCI works, there's an issue that needed to correct at the counter. The last time i flew a few ago I got hit with the 'SSSS' for the HKG-LAX leg. Figured out what went wrong, name was double spelled. Correct name should be:

Last Name: 'A'
Given Name: 'BC'

CX OLCI had it entered as

Last Name: 'ABC'
Given Name: 'BC'

A week after that i flew domestic in US, the dreaded 'SSSS' did not follow me. Had me worried for a while that i was on the list.

I have an interesting possible glitch on a SFO-HKG-HND flight on Friday.

I was able to OLCI wife and I with no problem at T-45. When I went to MMB to confirm all was well, the DOB in travel documents for both me and my wife were wrong, both 1 day before the actual DOBs. I may have fat-fingered the initial entry on the website (I seem to have a dislike/hate relationship with it) but one on the dates was correct at July 1 but showing on the MMB as June 30. I can believe blowing the month or the date, but probably not both. This means it would be a good idea to arrive at the airport early to hammer this out.

An additional item, one of my problems with the CX web site was putting in the correct DOBs and when doing a final check, having them incorrect, then fixing them.

I also have a similar flight in 3 weeks and the DOB's are (currently) correct, I will check them after OLCI.

Any idea why CX wants us to be 1 day older?
