Should I join MPC?
I am from the Philippines. All my travels are from my own expense. For long hauls, I always fly in J. For short-medium flights, almost always in Y.
I have access to Plaza Premium lounges using my credit card even if I'm in Y.
So is it still a good move to pay $100 to become a MPC member?
What are the benefits of an MPC member in other OW airlines? Can I use my Asiamiles to book or get upgrades on OW carriers?

It really depends on how often you fly and I would say you should definitely join if you can at achieve Gold, since most Silver benefits are included in Business class.
OW Ruby (MPC Silver) benefits:
-Access to Business Class priority check-in
-Access to preferred or pre-reserved seating (where offered)
-Priority on waitlists and when on standby (where offered)
-**(CX/KA only) Access to CX lounges when flying in Economy on CX/KA
OW Sapphire (MPC Gold) benefits:
-Access to priority Business Class check-in
-Priority boarding
-Access to preferred or pre-reserved seating when offered by the airline operating the flight
-Priority standby and waitlisting (where offered)
-Access to more than 650 airport lounges (with one guest) when travelling internationally, including premium Business Class and frequent flyer lounges, regardless of the class of service flown that day.
OW Emerald benefits:
-All benefits above + FIRST CLASS lounges.
*info from OW website
Asiamiles can be used to upgrade on AA&BA without being a MPC member.

At least once in long haul J.
Several times in Y, but in whatever airline that is cheap and have convenient time.
If I can see a good benefit in joining MPC, I will fly more with CX or other OW airlines.

Using the points calculator, the highest I can achieve will only be silver. If I travel in J, Silver won't give me additional benefits.
And if I'm not travelling in J and I'm with my wife, who travels a lot less than me, she won't have lounge access. So we'll end up using the Plaza Premium lounges.
I guess I won't join MPC. I haven't traveled alone, always with friends and family. So even if I have status, and my companions don't, I won't be able to fully enjoy the benefits of MPC.

I have never flown with AA or BA, and I doubt I will in the future since both don't have flights to MNL. I only started to travel frequently around 5 yrs ago. 95% for leisure. I never paid attention to airline alliances, so I fly whichever airline is convenient and have the lowest fare. I have some miles with NH, KE, PR, and CX.

NH - ANA [Star Alliance] --> http://www.wheretocredit.com/NH
KE - Korean [SkyTeam] --> http://www.wheretocredit.com/KE
PR - Philippines [non aligned] --> http://www.wheretocredit.com/pr NH partner
CX - Cathay [Oneworld Alliance] --> http://www.wheretocredit.com/cx
You do not need to fly with an airline to get ff miles. FFP have partners.
For example, subject to an eligible flight, you could have earned NH ff miles for the PR flights. NH, being Star Alliance, has a wide range of partners
KE & CX are both ff partners of Alaska Airlines. https://www.alaskaair.com/content/mi...rline-partners
Having multiple ffp’s with low balances is never a good idea. You may never get enough ff miles/points to be of use before they expire. FFP’s are for the medium to long term. However at times it makes sense to have a ff membership with an airline in another alliance. (e.g. Oneworld & Star)
Be mindful of expiry http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...-t-expire.html

For the past 2 years, I've been crediting miles flown on PR to NH. But these are all short haul flights, so not much miles.
For the past few years, my long haul flights were with KE, CX and QR. I forgot to register for QR miles since I booked the ticket through a travel agent.
