Read a recently published CAPA article that says:

"The third runway will open up a new wave of regional growth opportunities – at both the full service and low cost ends of the market – as well as the possibility of introducing smaller aircraft. Cathay is considering taking advantage of the third runway to expand its fleet by approximately 50% – or 100 aircraft excluding HK Express – and could place a new batch of aircraft orders as early as this year."

That last sentence is a rather large claim. Does anyone know the source for this? I haven't heard any news of CX considering a new a/c order. If true, any ideas what a/c they'd consider buying?

I would take anything published by that source with a grain of salt. If there was a sufficiently firm proposal to make a large order then CX would announce it.

That said, as a matter of personal speculation, I would not be surprised if there was an order say for additional A350s given my annecdotal understanding that the fleet (including the -1000s) is performing very well indeed. There is also the question as to which type is going to make up the backbone of the regional fleet going forward given many of the 330s will be due for retirement soon. Although a very capable and flexible bird, the 350 is a lot of aeroplane for some of these routes and may be more capability than is required (unless CX's freight requirements + fleet commonality advantages help tip the balance).

There are some discrepancies with some of the above equipment regarding configuration (77A vs 77H) with the wiki page.

Example:

B-KPI as 77A here vs 77H in the wiki
B-KPO is missing here vs it's already wifi equipped in the wiki
B-KPP has wifi vs none in the wiki

Yup that's why I posted it. I can't edit the wiki. But my list is the correct one. If KPO is recently wifi equipped after my list or otherwise forgotten from it, that I'm not yet sure.
