To some extent same is true at The Pier. Most of the staff used to work at The Wing and I would rarely be remembered there. Now,after The Pier reopened most of them only work there (there is a slight degree of rotation though).
So after regularly visiting The Pier for the last 9-10 month,I would say most bar tenders recognize me and make an off the menu baileys cocktail without asking as I enter. Same with the front desk CX staff, they know their regulars well.
I presume the diffirence is that they treat the non-regulars well to start with and treat regulars even better.
That said,I am going to have to start the process of getting to know staff from the scratch after The Pier's handover to Plaza Premium,as many staff will be leaving at the end of this month (except a few bar tenders and the CX staff).

By the way if the crew/staff remeber you it's not necessarily a good thing.Just imagine what a DYKWIA you have to be so that they remember that you fly often on the YVR route, your name and that you are DM.
PS: I hope that this post on CX Secrets FB group is not about OP? They both fly to YVR
(only joking ofcourse)[/QUOTE]
Nope I'm just a lowly silver lol...maybe I'll be a DM one day
But on a side note, my last name is quite similar to that

Just got off a CX F flight, great service today for YVR crew btw, and the ISM said "Welcome back onboard, it'll be a pleasure serving you again Mr. --"
At this point I just assumed it was just like any regular CX greeting. However, she later came over and said "I've been on your flight before" to that I replied, "was it last month?" and she said "No, it was many, many years ago. You and your mom live in Vancouver right?"
The issue is that the last time I flew longhaul CX to HK from YVR other than this year was 11 years ago (have been flying AC instead these years). How could she have remembered who I was (since I would've been quite young and should've only been on J or Y.
What do you think and how would've it been possible?

Fun comments in the thread!
I have a pretty good memory, and on the airlines I fly most there are a number of crew members that recognise me. On a BA 780 the other week one of the CC (that I immediately recognised and remembered the name of from OSL-LHR three months earlier).
I recognise about 25% of the SK longhaul crew, but SK crew are notoriously bad at recognising pax unless it was less than a month since you flew with them.
I was rather surprised last month on JL HKG-HND (C) to have a CC remember me from SIN-HND last summer in Y. I didn't recognise them! May have been because I was asleep for most of that red-eye.
I realise this post is a bit OT as it isn't CX focused, but I fly too little with them to be remembered
Only like twice a month - and a very good mix of routes.
